Prepare to welcome a brand new Chinese car brand to the UK - because Lepas is preparing to launch here later this year.
The name Lepas combines ‘Leopard’, ‘Leap’ and ‘Passion’ and was introduced to the global stage last year.
It’s yet another offering from mega-manufacturers Chery International.
Chery are the brains behind Jaecoo and Omoda and already offer Chery-branded cars, including the affordable Chery Tiggo 8 (below), here in Blighty.
Dismiss Lepas at your peril.
The Jaecoo 7, for example, was the most-leased car with Select Car Leasing in 2025 as a whole and has continued its dominance in the first month of 2026 (sitting just ahead of the ever-popular Kia Sportage.
Chery says the Lepas brand identity is ‘bolder, more imaginative, and packed with smart technology and thoughtful design’ compared with competitors.
The focus is on the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market, so think EVs and plug-in hybrids with a smattering of traditional petrol engines.

What will be the first Lepas model to launch in the UK?
Lepas and Chery say the first UK model to launch will be confirmed in the coming weeks.
But the smart money says it’ll be the Lepas L8, which is already on sale in other global territories.
The L8 shares a platform with the Chery Tiggo 8, so you might expect it to be offered with a similar 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid powertrain that boasts an EV range of up to 56 miles on a single charge.
