Honda launches Super-N - and it’s coming to the UK!

  • Honda unveils Super-N
  • Ultra compact EV
  • Japanese ‘Kei’ car size
  • Set for UK launch next year
  • Price, range, power, size - all still yet to be revealed

It’s official - Honda’s funky new Super-N will launch in the UK next year.

It’s been a while since we last enjoyed a pint-sized electric Honda, with the retro-tastic Honda e having been discontinued at the end of November 2023.

But that’ll change in 2026 when we get to enjoy THIS, the Super-N, with Honda having now confirmed that its diminutive EV will be tested in a few key global markets that includes Great Britain.

So, what is the Honda Super-N?

The Honda Super-N is an ultra-compact electric vehicle that’s built on the same platform as the firm’s Japan-specific ‘Kei’ cars.

Considering its size, the Super-N packs a distinctive punch, coming with a wide stance, blister bumpers and striking aero ducts.

Rebecca Adamson, Head of Automobile, Honda UK, said: “The Super-N Prototype promises to offer a great entry point to Honda EV ownership when it arrives in our market next year, building on the excitement we saw for the concept model at Goodwood this summer. By bringing Honda’s trademark ‘fun-to-drive’ performance to a compact all-electric model, we believe this is a unique proposition and we are excited for people to experience it from 2026.”

What power and range does the Honda Super-N have?

At the time of writing, your guess is as good as ours, with Honda keeping the Super-N’s range and performance stats under wraps.

What we do know, however, is that the Super N will feature a ‘BOOST’ mode - which increases the power output for short stints while also simulating the noise of a traditional manual gearbox - a bit like you get with the S+ Shift tech in the new Honda Prelude.

Honda tells us: “Coupled with dedicated interior displays and coordinated lighting sequences, this ensures a sense of excitement and enhanced driving engagement that is unique to a vehicle of this size.”

When it comes to rivals, the Honda Super-N looks set to compete with the incoming Renault Twingo E-Tech as well as the Dacia Spring.

Which other manufacturers are launching ultra-compact cars?

Dinky cars of the ‘Kei’ variety appear to be all the rage at the moment.

In recent weeks we’ve seen the tiny Dacia Hipster (below), which has a smaller footprint than a Fiat 500e.

Meanwhile Mazda has also launched the Vision X-Compact (below) this week, another pipsqueak offering that previews a future Mazda 2.
