- New VW ID. Cross
- Compact electric SUV
- Promises ‘affordable electric mobility’
- Gets 260 mile range
- Will share a lot in common with Skoda Epiq

This is the VW ID. Cross - a compact SUV that promises ‘affordable electric mobility’ for the masses, according to the German firm.
While being described as a concept car, the VW ID. Cross is due to hit the leasing market in 2026 along with the recently-revealed VW ID. Polo.
It is, to all intents and purposes, the fully-electric alter ego of the traditionally-fuelled VW T-Cross.
At 4,161 mm long, 1,839 mm wide and 1,588 mm tall, VW says the ID. Cross can slot into the smallest of parking spaces and is built for the urban jungle, as well as for longer journeys.

It’ll be built on the VW group’s next-gen ‘MEB+’ electric architecture which will give it power of around 211 PS (driving the front wheels) and a range of up to 260 miles between charges.
VW reckons the ID. Cross will be perfect for ‘e-bike riders and fans of compact lifestyle camper vans’, coming with a towbar that’ll take the weight of two e-bikes while supporting a max trailer weight of up to 1,200 kg (braked).
Expect 450 litres of boot space (above average for the class) as well as foldable rear seats that ‘create a reclining area in the style of a VW Bus’.

Also introducing the Skoda Epiq (pictured above)
It’s no surprise that the VW ID. Cross and the Skoda Epiq were teased within hours of each other.
Skoda is, of course, part of the VW Group and the Epiq is another electric crossover that’ll share much in common with the ID. Cross.
The Epiq has similar proportions (being 4.1 metres in length), gets a slightly bigger range of up to 264 miles between charges, and a larger boot at 475 litres.

It’s due to go into production in 2026.
Klaus Zellmer, CEO of Skoda Auto, said: “The Epiq show car offers a concrete glimpse into the next addition to Skoda’s successful all-electric family. It embodies the essence of Skoda: modern solid design, a spacious interior within a compact footprint, user-friendly, intuitive digital interfaces, and Simply Clever details that ensure a seamless experience – and above all – at an attractive price point. With the Epiq, we’re taking another step towards making electric cars a practical and compelling choice for everyday drivers. “
