Koenigsegg launches ‘Sadair's Spear’ megacar

  • New Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear unleashed
  • 1,625hp megacar powered by V8
  • Can rev up to an astonishing 46,000 rpm/s
  • Amped-up version of the Koenigsegg Jesko
  • Limited to just 30 units
  • Costs from £3.8m

Behold the latest four-wheeled weapon from Swedish ‘megacar’ manufacturer Koenigsegg - the 1,625hp and £3.8m quid ‘Sadair’s Spear’.

Back in 2020, Koenigsegg gave us the Jesko, which is available as the sleek ‘Jesko Absolut’ coupe or the raucous, track-focused ‘Jesko Attack’, both of which chuck out 1,600hp.

This, the Sadair’s Spear, is the Jesko dialled-up to eleven, boasting more power, reduced weight, a track-focused interior, upgraded brakes and suspension, and eye-catching aerodynamics.

While it’s road-legal, the Sadair’s Spear is clearly honed for track use, coming with a minimalist cockpit, three-point race seat belts, and lashings of carbon fibre.

Underpinning it all is a twin-turbo V8 engine mated to a revolutionary flywheel-free Light Speed Transmission (LST), and capable of revving at a staggering 46,000 rpm/s.

Using eco-friendly E85 fuel, drivers will have 1,625hp to play with and you can expect it to accelerate from 0-62 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

A new lightweight, top-mounted double-blade active has been carefully crafted for maximum cornering traction at track speeds and works with underfloor strakes and wheel arch louvres.

Yet despite all of the adrenaline-inducing stuff, you still get cabin creature comforts like wireless phone charging and a birds-eye parking camera.

And where does the name ‘Sadair’s Spear’ come from? Koenigsegg says it’s a ‘deeply personal’ homage to someone very special.

A spokesperson explains: “Christian von Koenigsegg previously honoured his father, Jesko, on his 80th birthday by naming the Koenigsegg Jesko after him—a heartfelt tribute for his invaluable support during Koenigsegg’s formative years. Jesko von Koenigsegg was a passionate gentleman jockey with lifelong ties to Sweden’s equestrian community. His favourite racehorse—the one he rode in his final race in 1976—was named Sadair’s Spear. Fittingly, the car bearing this storied name is uncompromisingly engineered for peak track performance.”
