- Aston Martin DBX S revealed
- High-performance version of regular DBX
- Super-SUV gets 727 PS and 900 Nm torque
- 0-62mph time of 3.3 seconds
- Priced from £210,000

Aston Martin has launched a high-performance version of its DBX super-SUV - the aggressive new DBX S.
The regular DBX is already potent enough, coming with power of 707 PS courtesy of a whopping-great 4.0-Litre Twin-Turbo V8 powerhouse.

The DBX S takes that mill, adds some tech wizardry borrowed from the Aston Martin Valhalla supercar, and ups the power to 727 PS.
It results in a 0-62mph time of just 3.3 seconds, which is… precisely the same as the regular DBX707.

What has changed, though, is the time it takes for the DBX S to reach 124 mph from a standstill, which has come down by 0.3 seconds to 11.4 seconds. Top speed remains unchanged at an impressive 193 mph.
A modified exhaust system also adds more character to the V8 engine’s distinctive note.

The other important changes affect how the DBX both looks and handles.
The common-or-garden DBX already has active torque distribution to improve traction. The DBX S dials that up a notch with a modified gearbox, with aggressive downshifts possible when in Sport and Sport + modes.

The DBX S is also lighter than before, depending on which options you tick.
A carbon fibre roof is the ‘largest such carbon element ever fitted to an Aston Martin’, says the Brit manufacturer, which saves 18 kg in mass and also lowers the car’s centre of gravity.

You can also choose magnesium wheels (which are 75% lighter than steel and a third less than aluminium) to improve ride quality, steering precision and feel.
Aston Martin has tweaked the air springs and electronic dampers for the DBX S’ suspension, reducing body roll, while the spring rate also changes depending on which drive mode you’ve selected.

There are carbon ceramic disc brakes at each corner.
Looks wise, the DBX S gets a black vaned grille, a new splitter and diffusers, new rear bumper, up-turned air splitters, and vertically-stacked quad exhausts.

The interior of the DBX S is trimmed as standard in lightweight Alcantara, with a liberal proliferation of the firm’s ‘S’ logo, while you also get a premium surround-sound audio system.
Aston Martin CEO, Adrian Hallmark, said: “The introduction of DBX S not only reaffirms our commitment to producing the most exciting, rewarding and beautiful cars, it also sends a powerful statement of intent about our ambitions not just for DBX, but for the Aston Martin brand.”

It’s priced from around £210,000. The closest rival to the Aston Martin DBX S is the Lamborghini Urus Performante, which gets lesser power of 666 PS but a similar 0-62 mph sprint time.
