- Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray coming to UK
- Right-hand drive (and all-wheel drive)
- Hybrid powertrain, not fully-electric
- Power of 643 hp. 0-62 mph in 2.9 secs
- Priced from £153,440

Looking for a left-field sportscar that still ticks all the right boxes? The new Chevrolet Corvette E-Ray might get your motor running.
The Corvette has, for a few years now, been available in the UK as a right-hand drive car.

And the new Corvette E-Ray (it’s a hybrid, not fully-electric, despite what its name might suggest) is also being made available to British punters with a price tag beginning at £153,440.
Is that ‘entry-level supercar’ cost enough to tempt folks away from the likes of the Porsche 911 Carrera 4 GTS or the Aston Martin Vantage?

It just might be when you look at the E-Ray’s stats.
Power of 643 hp comes via a 6.2-litre V8 engine (which drives the rear wheels) and an electric motor and battery (which drives the front wheels).

Acceleration from 0-62 mph goes by in just 2.9 seconds - which is quicker than the equivalent Porsche 911 or the new Aston Martin Vantage S. It’s properly rapid.
Chevrolet says the hybrid powertrain makes the E-Ray the ‘quickest production Corvette ever to grace UK roads’.

The hybrid set-up itself is self-charging and never needs to be plugged in. So-called ‘Stealth Mode’ also lets the E-Ray get down using nothing but electricity and at speeds of up to 44 mph (for short distances).
Standard-issue equipment includes Brembo carbon ceramic brakes, a cockpit inspired by fighter jets and which comes with a precision head-up display, and a Bose 14-speaker sound system.

There are six driver-selectable modes: Tour, Sport, Track, Weather, My Mode and Z-Mode.
Meanwhile the E-Ray’s American makers say their latest Corvette is built to ‘turn heads from Knightsbridge to the North Coast 500’ - not just on Route 66.

The E-Ray will be available as both a removable-roof Coupe and hard-top Convertible. The Coupe starts at £153,440 and the Convertible begins at £159,230.
There are three Corvette models in the Chevrolet line-up; the 482 hp Stingray, the 646 hp Z06, and now the hybrid 643 hp E-Ray.
