Lightweight new British sports car breaks cover

  • New Zenos E10 RZ previewed
  • Marks revival for UK’s Zenos Cars
  • Power of 380bhp and 510Nm torque
  • 0-62mph in 3.2 secs.
  • Weighs just 790 kg - less than a Hyundai i10

This is the new Zenos E10 RZ - because who needs a roof when you’ve got a helmet?

In case you’re unfamiliar, Zenos Cars is a British firm that specialises in building lightweight, road-legal roadsters capable of eating race circuits for breakfast.

Based in Norfolk, Zenos was formed in 2012 by folks who had previously worked at Lotus and Caterham and it first made waves in 2015 with the original Zenos E10.

Financial troubles followed before a consortium led by AC Cars (another historic British marque) stepped in to save the day.

And now the revival is complete - with Zenos readying to launch this, the E10 RZ, in 2026.

What is the Zenos E10 RZ?

What you’re looking at is a more powerful version of the original E10 while Zenos sticks to its ethos for weight-saving, no-nonsense road and track thrills.

It’s a more premium product than the old E10 and will command a price tag of at least £140,000, on the road. A slightly more affordable E10 R2 model will follow further down the road, costing around £120,000.

With the Zenos E10 RZ, there’s no roof. But what you do get is acceleration to melt the face.

A 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, turbocharged petrol engine delivers 380bhp, 510 Nm of torque, and acceleration from 0-62mph in just 3.2 seconds - which is quicker than a BMW M3.

Top speed maxes out at around 150mph. And because the Zenos E10 RZ weighs just 750kg (a good chunk lighter than a Suzuki Swift or Hyundai i10) you also get a ‘monstrous 500bhp per tonne’, says Zenos.

As an enthusiast’s car, you’ll also enjoy a 6-speed manual gearbox.

How will the Zenos E10 RZ handle on the road?

You can expect it to hug the road like few other cars can.

A carbon fibre body tub and body keeps things taut while a limited slip differential will put the power to the Tarmac.

A Zenos spokesperson adds: “All significant weight is inboard of both front and rear axles, including the new engine and gearbox installation. The fully independent front suspension utilises pushrod and inboard-mounted dampers to reduce drag, as well as lowering un-sprung mass and improving ride and steering response. At the rear, conventional coil over dampers mount directly to the tubular steel subframe which holds the engine and gearbox.”

How will the Zenos E10 R2 compare to the E10 RZ?

The E10 R2 will use a slightly larger engine - a 2.3-litre unit - that delivers less power at 325bhp.

It’ll get the same advanced aluminium and carbon fibre chassis, along with full carbon-fibre bodywork, a 6-speed manual gearbox and a limited slip differential.

The new Zenos E10 R2 model will cost around £120,000.
