McLaren has just enjoyed a 4,000-mile road trip across America in a trio of its supercars - because why the hell not!?

The ‘States of Endurance’ journey celebrates the 30th anniversary of McLaren’s victory at Le Mans back in 1995.

Two of the cars in the expensive convoy were the McLaren 750S Coupe and 750S Spider, both of which get power of 750 PS, 850 Nm torque, and a top speed of 206 mph.

The other stunner making the trip was the more ‘affordable’ Artura Spider, a plug-in hybrid with 700 PS, 720 Nm torque, a 205 mph top speed, and the ability to travel for around 21 miles using electricity alone.

If fuel costs were a concern on your coast-to-coast US jaunt, you’d be grabbing the keys to the Artura.

The journey began in Monterey, California, and then included pit stops in Newport Beach, Scottsdale, Dallas, Atlanta, Orlando and the final stop in Miami, Florida.

The West to East jolly took in a whopping 3,867 miles of open road - a distance McLaren says beats the miles typically driven by cars competing in the Le Mans 24 hours.

A company spokesperson adds: “Endurance racing, and the Le Mans 24, are the ultimate test of resilience in the racing world – a tale of resilience told first hand by Justin Bell, who drove a McLaren F1 GTR in the 1995 race. The driver featured as one of several people who met with our States of Endurance drivers along the route, ranging from ranchers, astronauts, and world-record holding athletes, each one with their own story of what endurance means to them.”
