- Genesis G90 Wingback revealed
- Estate version of G90 Saloon
- Genesis says it counters the ‘multiplication of SUVs’
- Concept for now but could well make it to production
- Unlikely to make it to the UK, even if it does get built

Who says you need a mediocre SUV when you could have THIS - the glorious new Genesis G90 Wingback estate?
Genesis (the upmarket division of Hyundai) is on a mission to convince us that it can build performance cars alongside its line-up of luxurious vehicles.
In recent days we’ve seen the Magma GT supercar and the GV60 Magma SUV, with the hot GV60 set to arrive in Europe in 2026.
Genesis has also been showing off the G90 Wingback, which it describes as a ‘sleek grand tourer wagon’.
And here’s everything you need to know about it.

What is the Genesis G90 Wingback?
The Genesis G90 is a new concept vehicle and the ‘Shooting Brake’ estate version of the firm’s existing G90 Saloon.
The G90 has never been on sale here in the UK (though we did get the G80).
But where the G90 is sold (in places like America and South Korea) it’s powered by a 3.5-litre V6 petrol engine that produces up to 409hp, 549 Nm torque, and which can accelerate from 0-62mph in 5.2 seconds.

The G90 Saloon is basically billed as a limo-like rival to cars like the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8.
But the G90 Wingback is a different beast entirely, boasting much more aggressive styling and which would offer competition to the plug-in hybrid BMW M5 Touring.
Compared with the bog standard G90, the Wingback has a more sculpted front bumper, large lower air intakes, flared wheel arches and huge 22-inch alloys.

And while the G90 Wingback is clearly a performance machine, there’s no shortage of swank in the cabin.
It gets quilted Chamude (a suede-like material) across the bucket seats, door trim, steering wheel, dash and console,

Does the Genesis G90 Wingback attempt to buck the SUV trend?
Yep, Genesis has specifically said that its G90 Wingback is an attempt to prove to the world that you don’t always need an SUV.
Chief Creative Officer Luc Donckerwolke said: “At the moment there is, let’s say, a multiplication of SUVs. And this fast growth will create a saturation. This is when other typologies of cars are going to become attractive again. This is why I strongly believe in not having a typology monoculture.”

Will the Genesis G90 Wingback be produced?
Genesis hasn’t confirmed whether the G90 Wingback will actually make it from the drawing board to the road.
But rumour has it that the firm is seriously considering it, and it could be produced in limited numbers by around 2027.
Will the G90 Wingback make it to the UK if it does end up being built? Sadly it feels unlikely, particularly as the regular G90 Saloon isn’t even sold here.
