You’ve seen him banging in a volley to win the Champions League for Real Madrid.
Now watch legendary footballer Zinedine Zidane with a big grin on his face as he enjoys the incoming electric Alpine A390!
Player turned coach Zidane - Zizou to his mates - bagged just about every trophy going, including the World Cup with France in 1998.
And if the Alpine A390 is good enough for this Ballon d'Or winner, it might be enough to tempt you into leasing one when it becomes available in the middle of next year.
Why is Zinedine Zidane in an Alpine?
Alpine, the performance off-shoot of Renault, is currently celebrating its 70th anniversary and is plotting BIG things for 2026.
Firstly, the Alpine A110 coupe as we know it is being replaced with a third-gen, fully-electric model, which will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October of next year.

To mark the A110’s metamorphosis, Alpine has launched the petrol-powered A110 R Ultime - described as ‘the final evolution of the iconic A110’ - as a last hurrah.
It’s the most powerful EVER A110, coming with 345 bhp and 420 Nm of torque, and will be limited to just 110 examples.
Oh, and it boasts a massive rear spoiler, modified turbo, a new gearbox, Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, Ohlins adjustable dampers, bespoke brakes… and will set you back a cool £222,000.

Also coming in 2026 is the gorgeous Alpine A390 - which is what you see Zizou riding shotgun in alongside Alpine’s F1 star Pierre Gasly.
Gasly reckons he’s already ordered one, and adds: “When I drive a road car, my expectations are focused on comfort. But as I'm a racing driver, I want to feel similar sensations to racing. I want precision as well as a car that looks good.”
Zidane, meanwhile, was announced as an official ambassador for Alpine back in 2023 and is a champion for its equal opportunities programmes.

What is the Alpine A390, and why is it special?
The Alpine A390 is a fully-electric fastback SUV that’s set to hit UK roads at the back end of 2026.
It’s the big brother to the compact Alpine A290 hatchback and will also compete with the likes of the Porsche Macan Electric and Polestar 4.
The A390 is described as having the ‘design of a racing car in a suit’ and should boast thrilling performance.

While full details are still to be confirmed, GT models will get 400hp, 650 Nm of torque and will be able to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds (quicker than a Porsche Macan 4).
The A390 GTS variant ups the power to 470hp while cutting the 0-62mph time down to 3.9 seconds. Oof, yes. Those GTS versions will also get 21-inch alloys, Nappa leather bucket seats, and track-honed telemetrics system.
All-wheel drive is standard with all A390 models and you’ll also enjoy Active Torque Vectoring and five driving modes; Save, Normal, Sport, Perso and Track.

The Alpine A390 is expected to cost from around £60,000 when it eventually arrives.
