New Leapmotor B03X is an electric Ford Puma rival

  • New Leapmotor B03X revealed
  • Compact electric SUV
  • Similar proportions to Ford Puma and MINI Aceman
  • Range of around 250-300 miles
  • Full details still to be confirmed

The electric Ford Puma Gen-E is about to get a new rival in the form of this, the incoming Leapmotor B03X.

The electric hatchback-SUV crossover has been unveiled at a preview event in Guangzhou, China, and will make its way to the UK in the second half of next year.

At around 4.2m long, 1.8m wide and 1.6m tall, it’s roughly the same size as the Ford Puma Gen-E, Renault 4 E-Tech or Hyundai Kona Electric.

From where we’re standing, it’s also giving strong MINI Aceman vibes.

Here’s everything we know so far.

What’s good about the Leapmotor B03X?

We don’t yet know what battery the B03X might get, or how expensive it’ll be, with those details still to be announced.

But Leapmotor says it’s a car that ‘redefines what a compact SUV can be’ and boasts an official range of up to 310 miles, according to the China Light-Duty vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). The B03X is already on sale in China as the 'A10'.

The CLTC is, however, generally more optimistic than the Worldwide Harmonised Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) that’s the standard measure of range here in the UK.

So, we reckon a WLTP estimate of around 250-300 miles for the B03X is more likely.

You can also expect 18-inch alloys, semi-hidden door handles, a floating roof, and a ‘smile’ lighting signature at the front.

In terms of the Leapmotor range, the B03X sits below the existing Leapmotor B10 (and the larger-still Leapmotor C10).

The B10 costs from £29,995, so the B03X should be cheaper than that.

What is Leapmotor?

Leapmotor is a Chinese vehicle manufacturer that launched in the UK at the beginning of 2025.

It specialises in affordable EVs, with the T03, B10 and C10 all undercutting rivals in their respective categories.

Leapmotor is also heavily backed by mega manufacturing group Stellantis (who also own brands like Vauxhall, Peugeot, Citroen and FIAT) so it means business.
