- Polestar 5 revealed in full
- Now available to lease with Select Car Leasing
- Power of up to 884hp with Performance models
- Range of up to 416 miles on a single charge
- Serious rival to the Porsche Taycan

The Porsche Taycan has a sumptuous new rival - introducing the potent Polestar 5.
The Polestar 5 is the Swedish brand’s flagship fully-electric performance Grand Tourer, and it's now available to lease with Select.
Combining modern, minimalist styling with cutting-edge technology, the Polestar 5 promises both thrilling performance and long-distance practicality for electric vehicle enthusiasts.
Built on a hot-cured bonded aluminium platform, the Polestar 5 offers torsional rigidity higher than that of many two-seat sports cars and even some supercars. The four-door coupe features a “4+1” seating layout, with a rear armrest that can be lifted to accommodate an extra passenger, making it a versatile EV for both spirited drives and longer journeys.

What powertrain and battery does the Polestar 5 have?
Under the skin, the Polestar 5 is powered by a dual motor all-wheel-drive setup underpinned by a large 112 kW battery.
The Long Range Dual Motor model delivers 748hp and 812Nm of torque, allowing a 0-62mph sprint in 3.9 seconds and a range of up to 416 miles on a single charge. Charging speeds are rapid, with the 800-volt architecture enabling 10-80% DC fast charging in just 22 minutes.
Meanwhile, the Long Range Performance variant pushes power to 884hp and 1,015Nm of torque, cutting 0-62mph acceleration to 3.2 seconds, while still offering an impressive 351-mile range. Both versions feature a top speed electronically limited to 155mph.

Polestar 5 - interior and tech
Polestar’s commitment to sustainability is evident throughout the 5. The car uses 13% recycled aluminium, 83% aluminium from renewable-energy smelters, and natural fibre materials in the interior. Even optional Bridge of Weir Nappa leather is sourced from by-products of the food industry, highlighting Polestar’s eco-conscious approach.
Inside, the Polestar 5 boasts a digital rear-view mirror, a panoramic roof- the largest ever fitted to a Polestar - and a minimalist, ergonomic cabin with a 14.5-inch portrait centre display and a 9-inch driver display. Standard safety and driver assistance features include adaptive cruise control, lane keeping assistance, a 360-degree camera, and 12 ultrasonic sensors for comprehensive monitoring.

Like the Polestar 4, the Polestar 5 has jettisoned the traditional glass window at the back in favour of a digital rear-view mirror and a battery of cameras and sensors.
Performance-focused models add adaptive MagneRide dampers that ensure precise handling without compromising comfort, as well as 21-inch alloys, Bowers & Wilkins audio, and microsuede headlining.
With a boot capacity of 365 litres (1,128 litres with the rear seats folded) plus an additional 62-litre front trunk, the Polestar 5 balances sportscar performance with everyday usability.

What are the main rivals to the Polestar 5?
Besides the Porsche Taycan, leasing alternatives to the Polestar 5 include the Audi e-tron GT, BMW i5, and Lotus Emeya, positioning the Polestar 5 at the forefront of luxury electric Grand Tourers in the UK.
