- Drivers warned ahead of bonfire night
- Carrying fireworks in your vehicle can lead to hefty punishments
- Exceeding weight limit can lead to £300 fines and six penalty points on licence
- Motorists urged to get familiar with the rules!

Motorists are being warned they risk a heavy fine and six penalty points on their licence for transporting too many fireworks in their car.
You might be planning a Bonfire Night extravaganza, but it's actually illegal to buy and transport too many fireworks unless you hold a valid registration or licence to do so.
For personal rather than commercial use, there's a strict transportation weight limit of 50kg, as laid out by the Explosives Regulations 2014 act.
Failure to abide by those limits, and you risk prosecution.

Graham Conway, Managing Director at Select Car Leasing, says: "Drivers can be punished with a £300 fine, six penalty points and invalidated car insurance cover if they don’t follow firework transportation rules.
"It is against the law for anyone to buy and transport more than 50kg of fireworks unless they hold a valid registration or licence.
“And if you're transporting a small load of fireworks - possibly to your local community display - you also need to check with your insurance provider to make sure you're actually covered.

"It should also go without saying that fireworks represent an extreme safety hazard if they were to ignite or combust inside your vehicle.
"Make sure you never transport damp fireworks, as a damp firework is more likely to leak explosive content. With that in mind, never leave fireworks in your car overnight."
