- New Kia Stonic breaks cover
- Quirky crossover grows in length
- Petrol and mild-hybrid engines up for grabs
- Set to arrive early 2026
- UK spec and prices still to be revealed

Kia has thrown the sheets off a ‘bold’ new Stonic that’s set to arrive early next year.
The Stonic is an attractive crossover SUV that sits just below the slightly larger XCeed and larger still Sportage in Kia’s line-up.
This refreshed version will arrive in the UK next year with a new front and rear, tech borrowed from models higher up the ladder, and Kia’s now ubiquitous ‘Star Map’ lighting, which looks a bit like a constellation.

The other bit of good news is the Kia Stonic is now slightly longer and also gets more power than before, courtesy of either a traditional 1.0-litre petrol engine or 1.0-litre mild hybrid.

Kia Stonic - new styling
Kia talks about the updated Stonic having a ‘confident’ new silhouette with ‘bolder and more expressive’ styling. The car itself has grown in length, extended by 25mm, and gets resculpted front and rear bumpers. The ‘Star Map’ lighting from other Kia models is carried over to the Stonic while there are new 16-inch and 17-inch alloys.

What engines will the new Kia Stonic have?
When you lease the new Kia Stonic you’ll have a choice of either a traditional 1.0-litre petrol or a 1.0-litre mild-hybrid.
The base 1.0 ‘T-GDI’ petrol gets power of 100 PS while the mild-hybrid ups the oomph to 115 PS - both are more powerful than the 98 PS you get with the current Stonic.
Both powertrains are available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. All are front-wheel drive.

New Kia Stonic - interior and tech
Kia has borrowed equipment from models higher up the range to make the Stonic more techy than before. You’ll be able to enjoy a dual screen set up, comprising two 12.3-inch displays, as well as new steering wheel, gear knob and centre console designs.
Wireless smartphone charging and ambient lighting provide a ‘more refined in-car experience’, says Kia.
Safety-boosting features include Blind-spot Collision Avoidance Assist (BCA), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and navigation-based Smart Cruise Control, which relies on GPS data and can automatically adjust your speed before entering a bend.

When will the new Kia Stonic become available to lease?
The new-look Kia Stonic will arrive early in 2026, with UK specs and prices still to be announced.
As before, the Kia Stonic will compete against rivals like the Ford Puma, Renault Captur, and VW T-Roc.
