Road trip dreams don’t end just because the summer does - which is why you need to see this new list of Europe’s greatest driving routes.
It’s been compiled by Honda to mark the end of sales of the Civic Type R in Europe (boo!!!).
You can access a ‘Dream Drives’ map that covers 120 different roads spread across 25 countries and which has been curated by Civic Type R fans and motoring experts.
The list covers iconic strips of tarmac like the Stelvio Pass in Italy and the Great St Bernard Pass in Switzerland.
But there are also around 30 routes highlighted in the UK, including Derbyshire’s Snake Pass and the Llanberis Pass in Eryri National Park.
Adventures can be explored by theme - scenic, coastal, cross-country, or mountainous - in any chosen country.

It’s the perfect guide for old, new and future generations of Honda vehicles and harnesses the spirit of Type R to fully deliver on our commitment to the ‘joy of driving’.”
Once you’ve found your route on the Honda microsite, you can then select to navigate to and along the road of your choice with a direct link to Google Maps (or whatever map function is on your device).
Here’s a quick snapshot of the greatest driving routes in Europe:
- Great St Bernard Pass, Switzerland - Connecting Switzerland and Italy, this historic Alpine route features stunning mountain scenery, and dramatic high-altitude landscapes.
- German Alpine Road, Germany– Winding its way over 484 kilometres, this route takes in crisp Alpine meadows, craggy mountain peaks and lush forests. It has also been rated as one of Germany's Top 100 attractions.
- Vršič Pass, Slovenia - This spectacular route takes in a series of 50 challenging hairpin bends as it rises from Kranjska Gora and descends into the Soča Valley on the other side of the mountain.
- Col de Turini, France - One of the most famous stages of the Monte Carlo Rally, this iconic mountain pass delivers a really challenging drive. Running from Sospel to La Bollène, it features long straights linked by 34 hairpin bends.
- Passe dello Stelvio, Italy - Marking its 200th birthday in 2025, this famous mountain pass is the second highest in the Alps and has featured as a stage of the Giro d'Italia bicycle race 13 times since 1953.
It goes without saying that the Honda Civic Type R (lease one with us while you still can) would make the perfect companion for any of the routes outlined.
