Porsche has expanded its Macan Electric range with a potent new GTS model.

It’s the first time we’ve seen the Macan Electric in Porsche’s popular GTS trim. It sits just a rung down from the range-topping Macan Electric Turbo and ahead of the 4S.

The GTS model is priced from £89,000 and you’ll be able to lease one with Select in the coming days.

Here’s everything you need to know:

How powerful is the Porsche Macan Electric GTS?

Porsche describes the Macan GTS as ‘particularly sporty’ - and they’re possibly underselling it here.

A 100 kWh high-voltage battery gives 516 PS in normal use, but that figure rises to a whopping 571 PS when you use the ‘overboost’ function with launch control, with the torque rising to 995 Nm.

It means the Porsche Macan Electric is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in just 3.8 seconds and then on to a limited top speed of 155mph.

To put that figure into perspective, the Macan 4S does the 0-62mph sprint in 4.1 seconds and the Turbo takes just 3.3 seconds to reach 62mph.

The Sport Chrono Package is fitted as standard and has also been expanded to include the track mode familiar from the Taycan.

That function prepares the car for high-performance driving, increasing the level of battery cooling while minimising power loss caused by heat build-up.

What’s the range of the Porsche Macan Electric GTS?

The Macan GTS offers a combined WLTP range of up to 363 miles on a single charge, which compares well to rivals like the Tesla Model Y Performance (360 miles) or the Maserati Grecale Folgore (310 miles).

Rapid charging at 270 kW DC can take the energy from 10 to 80 per cent in just 21 minutes.

Is the Porsche Macan Electric GTS all-wheel drive?

Yes, the Porsche Macan Electric GTS is all-wheel drive (entry-level Macan Electric models are rear-wheel drive) but also has a rear-biased weight distribution and low centre of gravity for a sportier ride quality.

You get the Porsche Traction Management (ePTM) system and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) included as standard.

An electronically controlled differential lock helps to dial-in the traction.

You also get Sport air suspension with levelling system and height adjustment, which lowers the overall stance by 10 mm compared to other Macan Electric models.

Porsche Macan Electric GTS - styling and design

The GTS model is distinct thanks to its black-painted exterior details (including the lip of the adaptive rear spoiler), tinted Matrix LED headlights and aggressive front and rear bumpers.

There are wider side skirts, a more pronounced rear diffuser, and 21-inch Macan alloys in Anthracite Grey.

Inside the cabin, you can expect an abundance of Race-Tex upholstery with elements finished in black smooth leather, a heated GT Sports steering wheel, and you can match interior colours to the shade of the exterior for the first time.
