Diesel prices from £21,575; eCitan from £32,700 before gran
Mercedes-Benz has given its Citan compact van a few handy upgrades, adding more carrying capacity, a stronger diesel engine and new in-cab technology options.
New Citan models fitted with the 110 diesel engine get a significant payload boost, with the biggest uplift seen on the entry-level L1 Base model, which can now carry an extra 201kg. That increases payload from 479kg to 680kg, making it more practical for everyday jobs, without costing any more.
A new 112 diesel engine has also been introduced, producing 116hp and 270Nm of torque, paired exclusively with an automatic gearbox. It’s the most powerful diesel in the range, giving drivers an extra bit of muscle for towing or carrying heavier loads.
For those who want more convenience, Mercedes has also added a Special Edition Technology Pack for £995 (plus VAT). Available on both diesel and electric Citan Pro models, it includes satellite navigation, wireless phone charging and Active Parking Assist, which helps the van steer into tight parking spaces.
The Citan continues to share its core structure with the Renault Kangoo but offers a more upmarket interior and engaging driving experience.

While these changes might not be headline-grabbing, they bring it closer in capability to its Renault sibling and ensure it’s commercially competitive against the myriad compact van rivals.
The updated models are being produced now and will arrive in the UK shortly. List prices for the diesel Citan start at £21,575 plus VAT, while the all-electric eCitan starts from £32,700 before the government’s Plug-in Van Grant.
