Kerbo Charge offers two potential pricing routes to get your channel installed and running:
Kerbo Charge is still growing throughout the UK, meaning installation and upkeep costs can be subject to survey/ground conditions, and local council regulations and permissions.
As a street parking solution, Kerbo Charge cleverly navigates public walkways without causing a trip hazard - which is where its pavement installed channel comes into play.
Installed into the Tarmac, paving stones or brick surface, the duct cable lies flat against the ground, allowing you to insert your charging cable when you need it, and remove it when you're no longer charging. The duct itself is self closing and contours with the shape of the pavement, to eliminate trip hazards.
Council permission is required for the installation of a Kerbo Charge channel, however this is all handled by Kerbo Charge as part of the package.
Orders will only be accepted in areas where there is a pre-existing partnership between Kerbo Charge and the local authority, simplifying the process and avoiding any drawn-out conversations re requesting council permissions.
Pricing can vary under individual contexts and circumstances, starting from £649 (after the application of the £350 government grant). This price includes surveyance of the property, the obtaining of all necessary permissions, installation of the Kerbo Charge channel and a 10 year product warranty.
Typically charging at home can save you around £25 each time opposed to using a public charger*, meaning that you could break even in approximately 40 charges (installation cost subject to local authority).
*That's based on the cost to charge a mid sized 77 kWh EV from 20 - 100% using a 55p/kWh public charging point (around £33.88p) vs cost to charge the same electric vehicle using a 7.5p kWh overnight tariff (around £4.62p). For further details.
Kerbo Charge is a new service which is gradually spreading in availability throughout the UK.
To find out if you could access Kerbo Charge, enter your post code into Kerbo Charge's postcode checker and they'll let you know if they are already live in your area, or if they are currently still trialling.
If Kerbo Charge isn't yet covered in your area, you can register your email and postcode and they'll reach out when a trial or rollout starts in your area! Want to get your hands on Kerbo Charge as soon as possible? It can sometimes speed up the process if residents reach out to their local council and ask that they consider Kerbo Charge.
Installation comes with a 10 year warranty package, and a life expectancy of over 25 years when maintained. The hinge mechanism is expected to be able to open and close at least 25 million times without issue.
No maintenance should be required beyond occasionally removing dirt and debris, and any repairs that are needed can be handled by the installer- which can be either Kerbo Charge or your local authority, depending upon the area.
Kerbo Charge packaged are installed on asphalt, paving stones and brick surfaces using material that contours with the pavement while being able to withstand all vehicle and foot traffic.
The gully solution is co-designed with local authority partners who approve its installation.
Installation of Kerbo Charge channels takes around one hour.
The channel is 32mm which means that highway engineers only need to cut into the top layer or tarmac, without having to install any additional foundation or footings as the unit is sealed with HAPAS (Highways Authority Product Approval Scheme) approved mortar.
