The Kia PV5 Cargo has secured a maximum five-star rating in the latest round of safety testing from the experts at Euro NCAP.
The PV5 delivered consistently high scores across all key categories, achieving 75% for occupant protection, 80% for safety assist and crash avoidance, and 80% for post-crash safety, placing it among the best-performing electric vans assessed to date.

Is the Kia PV5 Cargo a safe van?
Euro NCAP highlighted the effectiveness of the PV5’s standard driver assistance systems in realistic driving scenarios. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking system was praised for reliably detecting vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, avoiding or mitigating most collisions during testing, including at higher speeds.
The system can also recognise pedestrians behind the vehicle, offering additional protection during low-speed manoeuvring.

Does the Kia PV5 Cargo have lane assist technology?
Lane Support was rated as “good”, providing subtle steering corrections in normal driving and stronger intervention if the van drifted towards the edge of the carriageway. Likewise, the Speed Assistance System also performed well, combining camera recognition with navigation data to identify speed limits and present them clearly to the driver.
According to Kia, the result reflects the engineering approach behind its Purpose Built Vehicle strategy, which includes a high-strength body structure and an electric-first platform designed specifically for commercial use.

The PV5’s result also follows recent five-star Euro NCAP ratings for Kia’s EV3, EV6, and EV9 passenger cars.
“Achieving the top Euro NCAP five-star rating is clear validation of its safety performance and will serve as strong momentum as Kia expands its PBV line-up across Europe,” said Sangdae Kim, executive vice president and head of Kia’s PBV Business division.
