About the Kia PV5 Cargo and Crew vans
Korean manufacturer Kia joined the van leasing market in 2025 - and instantly turned heads with the PV5.
It’s a fully-electric commercial vehicle with razor sharp styling and a host of design features that make living with the PV5 as easy as possible.
That includes a low, wide floor that opens up more space for cargo (in fact, it’s the lowest floor in the segment) and a cabin that boasts car-like levels of comfort.
Size-wise, the Kia PV5 occupies something of a niche, being bigger than the VW ID. Buzz Cargo but smaller than the VW e-Transporter.
Why lease the Kia PV5 Cargo or Crew vans?
The Kia PV5 Cargo offers plenty of flexibility when it comes to your leasing choices.
While initially offered in one size (L2 H1) other lengths and heights will join the line-up and you also have a choice of two battery sizes; the standard range 51.5 kWh battery pack (greater payload) or the long range 71.2 kWh unit (lesser payload, better range).
A range of up to 258 miles between charges (for long range models) is generous for the class.
All models are also well equipped as standard, with the entry-level ‘Essential’ trim offering body-coloured bumpers, a 12.9-inch touchscreen with sat nav and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a reversing camera.
The Kia PV5 Crew van is available with the standard range battery, gets five seats and two sliding doors, boasts a max 174-mile range, and still enjoys a 605 kg payload and cargo volume of up to 3.7 m3.
Which Kia PV5 van powertrain is right for me?
Standard range
Here a 51.5 kWh battery unlocks a range of up to 184 miles between charges. Power of 122 PS and 250 Nm of torque is channeled to the front wheels. All PV5 variants offer 400V fast charging; connect it to a 150 kW chargepoint and you’ll replenish the energy from 10-80% in less than 30 minutes. Maximum payload is 790 kg for the standard range battery.
Long range
The larger 71.2 kWh battery ups the range to a max of 258 miles while the power output increases to 163 PS. Rapid charging at 140 kW DC can take the energy from 10-80% in around 30 mins. The long range battery has a 690 kg payload.

Kia PV5 Cargo (2025) Review
Refined, efficient and cleverly packaged, the Kia PV5 makes a bold debut in the compact electric van sector. Real-world range is close to its claim, ride comfort is good, and the tech offering is a step ahead of many rivals. Some minor niggles mean it isn’t flawless, but it’s the best compact electric van we’ve seen to date, at a price that undercuts its diesel-powered rivals. Unless you’re covering huge distances every day, it should be at the top of your shortlist.
