Extreme new Toyota GR Yaris revealed

  • New Toyota GR Yaris Aero Performance launches
  • Package of extra aerodynamic features
  • Better handling, with input from professional race and rally drivers
  • Manual gearbox only
  • Priced from £48,995 and goes on sale March 2026

Toyota has expanded its GR Yaris line-up with a new Aero Performance model - and just look at the size of that huge rear spoiler!

The GR Yaris is, pound for pound, among the very best hot hatches of the last ten years.

Power of 276bhp combines with Toyota’s ‘GR-FOUR’ all-wheel drive system, which lets you distribute torque to either the front or rear wheels, depending on how you’re driving.

The regular GR Yaris was also crowned Hot Hatch of the Year at this week’s 2025 News UK Motor Awards.

The bad news is that demand has long outstripped supply and UK customers haven’t been able to order one for months.

That’s all about to change, however, with the introduction of this extreme Aero Performance variant, which is due to arrive in March 2026.

Toyota says a package of new aerodynamic enhancements make the GR Yaris even more of a track tool.

A large cooling duct and grille have been added to a new aluminium bonnet to improve cooling and was developed in cars competing in the Japanese Rally Championship.

There’s a new front lip spoiler to boost grip - an addition developed with pro-racer Kazuya Oshima who competes with Rookie Racing in Japan’s Super Formula, Super GT and Super Taikyu championships.

Eye-catching ducts at the back of the front wings direct air rearwards, improving steering feel and cornering skills, while additional ducts on each side of the rear bumper reduce the car’s drag coefficient, creating a smooth flow of air beneath the car.

Meanwhile that large, variable rear spoiler is here to provide better high speed handling and braking stability - and you can manually adjust it for different driving scenarios.

The good news for aficionados continues - because the GR Yaris Aero Performance is also fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox and racing-style vertical handbrake.

All of this will set you back 48,995 when it goes on sale next year - which is a good few grand more than the regular £42,690 GR Yaris from 2024.

For rivals to the Toyota GR Yaris, you're look at cars like the Audi RS3 and the BMW 1 Series M135 xDrive.
