- New Ford Ranger MS-RT PHEV unveiled
- Plug-in hybrid pick-up with sporty styling
- Power of 281hp and 697Nm of torque.
- EV range of up to 27 miles
- Priced still TBC

Ford has taken the wraps off the new Ranger MS-RT PHEV, combining plug-in hybrid tech with the bold styling of its motorsport-inspired MS-RT brand.
The new model is based on the Ranger PHEV, the first plug-in version of Europe’s best-selling pick-up, and promises the full package of capability, efficiency and stand-out style, though with no extra performance over the standard Ranger PHEV.

The Ranger MS-RT PHEV pairs a 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine with a 75 kW electric motor and 11.8 kWh battery. Together they produce 281hp and a mighty 697Nm of torque.
That translates into plenty of muscle for towing or lugging loads, as the MS-RT PHEV retains the full 3,500 kg towing capacity and one-tonne payload of the regular Rangers.
On the efficiency side, the pick-up can, in ideal conditions, travel around 27 miles on electric power alone, making it useful for urban commutes, site work in emission-restricted zones, or simply keeping fuel bills down. The battery can recharge while driving or by plugging into an external source.

Styled to stand out
The MS-RT treatment gives the PHEV a very different look from the standard Ranger. A lower stance (it’s been dropped by 40 mm), wider track, and flared arches create a more aggressive profile, while 21-inch diamond-cut wheels and low-profile tyres add a sporty edge.

Aerodynamic tweaks aren’t just for show - a ducktail spoiler and cab-mounted spoiler have been shaped to improve stability at speed, while the revised suspension and dampers are designed to sharpen handling without sacrificing comfort. The diesel MS-RT model was criticised for its harsh ride, so we hope there have been some significant changes.
The bold styling can be dialled up further with eye-catching paintwork, including a new Turini Purple colour alongside existing bright shades such as Fast Blue and Yellow Green.

Racy cabin
The MS-RT PHEV retains the work-ready double cab layout of the Ranger, but a splash of motorsport-inspired flair has been added. Sports seats finished in eco-Leather and suede get blue contrast stitching, while LED-lit MS-RT badges glow when the doors are opened. The steering wheel is reshaped, heated, and finished with a blue 12 o’clock marker.
Tech levels are strong too, with a 12-inch SYNC 4A touchscreen at the heart of the dashboard. Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a rear-view camera and parking sensors, bringing convenience as well as style.

UK built
Like other MS-RT models, final finishing of the Ranger PHEV takes place at Ford’s dedicated facility in Dagenham. It’s here that the paintwork, detailing and trim are completed before the pickups head out to customers.
The Ford Ranger MS-RT PHEV will be available to order across Europe later in 2025, with first deliveries expected in 2026. No prices have been revealed yet, but don’t expect much change from £60,000, putting it head-to-head against lifestyle-focused rivals like the Volkswagen Amarok Pan Americana and Toyota Hilux GR Sport.
