Range boost for electric Renault Megane E-Tech

  • Updated for Renault Megane E-Tech
  • Range increases to 310 miles
  • Faster charging
  • Power remains the same as before
  • Sharper styling with completely redesigned front end
  • You still get a heat pump and and vehicle-to-load as standard

Renault has facelifted its popular Megane E-Tech, giving it a bigger battery for extra range as well as a sharper new front end.

The electric crossover, first launched in 2022, is an important car for both Renault and EV newbies alike.

More than two in three Megane E-Tech drivers are completely new to battery-powered vehicles, according to the French manufacturer.

And this new update is designed to make living with an EV even easier.

Here’s what you need to know.

Does the facelifted Renault Megane E-Tech have a bigger battery?

It sure does. When order books open later this year, the updated Megane E-Tech will be packing a 67 kWh LFP battery - which is larger than the 60 kWh pack in current models.

That bigger battery means the range of the Megane E-Tech will jump from around 280 miles to 310 miles between charges.

Charging speeds have also improved, up from 130 kW DC to 165 kW, which means you can enjoy a 15-80% recharge in around 24 minutes.

Does the latest Renault Megane E-Tech have a different exterior design?

The new Megane E-Tech sits higher than before, by 20mm, due to its larger battery.

Meanwhile the entire front end has been overhauled.

The diamond shaped front grille is slightly taller while the existing side intakes have given way to a new light signature featuring eight diamond-shaped elements in a chequerboard pattern.

That, says Renault, means the Megane appears ‘wider and more planted’ than before.

The rest of the design is pretty much as you were, with pronounced dimples in the bonnet, a sloping roofline, and that distinctive high waistline.

Do you still get a heat pump as standard with the latest Renault Megane E-Tech?

Yes, a heat pump is still standard fit, helping you to maximise the car’s range, while you can also make use of Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) to power external devices via an adaptor.

What trim levels are available with the latest Renault Megane E-Tech?

While UK specs are still to be confirmed, the European line-up will consist of two trims; Techno and Esprit Alpine.

Techno models come with a 12-inch twin-screen display with Google services built in, EV route planning, battery pre-conditioning and 19-inch alloys.

The Esprit Alpine grade adds fancier exterior styling, larger 20-inch rims, power massage seats, and an uprated Harman Kardon sound system.

You also get the usual suite of safety tech, including updated adaptive cruise control, predictive eco driving advice, and Renault’s ‘Safety Score’, ‘Safety Coach’ and ‘Safety Monitor’ functions, which critiques your driving style and gives feedback.

What are the main rivals to the Renault Megane E-Tech?

Leasing alternatives to the Renault Megane E-Tech include other compact crossovers/hatchbacks like the Skoda Elroq, VW ID.3 and CUPRA Born
