Select Car Leasing’s most popular cars of 2026 so far

  • Select Car Leasing’s most popular cars of 2026 so far
  • Approaching halfway point of the year
  • Jaecoo 7 continues its dominance
  • Smaller Jaecoo 5 gaining traction
  • Four of the Top 10 are fully electric
  • Family-sized SUVs in demand
  • Eye-catching pricing for Vauxhall Frontera Electric sees it soar

These are the most popular lease cars of 2026 so far - and the Jaecoo 7 is continuing its meteoric rise to prominence.

The stats have been revealed by Select Car Leasing, the UK’s largest and most trusted leasing broker, as it approaches the halfway point of the year.

The figures cover both personal and business customers.

Family-friendly models dominate the Top 10 lists for both ‘most enquired’ and ‘sales’, with eight of the most-leased vehicles being medium-sized SUVs or smaller crossovers.

Four of the top 10 are fully electric - which outstrips the wider industry trend, with BEVs currently occupying a 20.9% market share of new car registrations as a whole for the year-to-date (according to the latest update from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, or SMMT).

The runaway success that is the Jaecoo 7 leads the way on all fronts, being Select’s most-enquired upon vehicle while also notching the most sales.

Meanwhile the Vauxhall Frontera Electric has stolen a march on rivals thanks to an eye-catching special offer that sees it priced from £131.50 per month* (at time of writing, contract length 24 months, 5,000 miles annually, 12-month initial payment of £1,578.00 plus Arrangement Fee).

The Jaecoo 7’s jaw-dropping journey continues

The Jaecoo 7 was launched in the UK at the beginning of 2025.

And since that point, it has enjoyed the sort of success that happens once in a generation.

Available with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, this medium-sized SUV tops the charts for Select’s enquiries and sales stats for the 2026 so far.

The Jaecoo 7 appears to be particularly popular in the leasing market.

(Jaecoo 5)

According to overall industry sales stats provided by the SMMT, the SUV sits third in 2026’s list (with 20,695 new registrations) behind the Kia Sportage (in second place with 21,274 registrations) and the Ford Puma (in No.1 spot with 24,358 registrations year-to-date).

Yet the Jaecoo 7 tops Select’s own run-downs and was also the most-leased car with Select in 2025 as a whole.

Geoff Cockerill, Director of Operations at Select, said: “It’s interesting to now see the Jaecoo 5, a more compact sibling to the Jaecoo 7, appearing in our Top 10 list of the most enquired lease cars, too.

“It illustrates perfectly how lease customers aren’t afraid to explore vehicles from new Chinese manufacturers, and also shows how Jaecoo as a brand is capturing the hearts and minds of UK motorists.”

BYD continues to build

Another Chinese manufacturer enjoying popularity with Select’s customers is BYD.

The fully electric BYD Seal saloon is the 5th most-leased car of 2026 so far as it out-paces its nearest rival, the Tesla Model 3.

Meanwhile the compact BYD Dolphin Surf - which is also fully electric - is Select’s 8th most-leased vehicle at the halfway point of 2026.

BYD is also preparing to roll-out ‘Flash Charging’ in the UK, which can charge an electric vehicle in the same amount of time it takes to fill up a tank of petrol.
