Peugeot E-208 GTi - first look at the production model!

  • Peugeot E-208 GTi production model revealed
  • Follows concept presented in 2025
  • First 100% electric GTi
  • Full details to follow in the coming days

Here’s your first look at the incoming Peugeot E-208 GTi in all of its production-ready glory.

We’ve already seen Peugeot’s new electric hot hatch in concept form, having been revealed last year, but THIS is what it’ll actually look like when it hits UK roads.

The E-208 GTi is expected to launch properly later this summer, where it’ll do battle with the soon-to-arrive VW ID. Polo GTI and the Vauxhall Corsa GSE.

As the first electric model to wear Peugeot’s famous ‘GTi’ badge, the E-208 will have some big shoes to fill as it follows in the footsteps of the iconic Peugeot 205 GTi (seen below).

How powerful is the Peugeot E-208 GTi?

Performance figures are ‘intended to wow’, says Peugeot, and the E-208 GTi is expected to enjoy power of 280 hp and 345 Nm of torque by way of a 54 kWh battery.

The E-208 GTi will be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 5.7 seconds - which is 0.2 seconds slower than the Vauxhall Corsa GSE but quicker than the ID. Polo GTI, which will hit 62mph from a standstill in 6.8 seconds.

A dedicated ‘Sport’ mode dials-down the interventions from the ESP (Electronic Stability Programme) while there’s a track-ready suspension set-up with new springs and shock absorbers with specific hydraulic stops and a rear anti-roll bar.

What’s the electric driving range for the Peugeot E-208 GTi?

From what we know so far, the E-208 GTi will be capable of travelling up to 217 miles between charges.

By contrast, the VW ID. Polo GTI gets a longer range - at up to 263 miles - while sacrificing power and pace in favour of distance.

We don’t yet know how far the Vauxhall Corsa GSE will be able to travel between charges, but early estimates suggest around 220 miles, which is almost identical to the E-208 GTi.

With the feisty Peugeot, a 7.4 kW AC home charge will take around 4 hours 40 mins while a rapid charge at 100 kW DC goes from 20-80% in 30 minutes.

What are the big rivals to the Peugeot E-208 GTi?

The obvious competitors for the Peugeot E-208 GTi are the VW ID. Polo GTI and Vauxhall Corsa GSE.

But there are a few other electric hot hatches to consider, including the Alpine A290, Abarth 600e (on special offer right now with Select Car Leasing), CUPRA Raval and MINI Cooper Electric John Cooper Works.
