Kia has confirmed UK pricing and specifications for its smallest electric car to date, the Kia EV2.
It sees the Korean brand targeting one of Europe’s fastest-growing new car segments with an affordable, compact SUV designed specifically for regional buyers.
The all-electric model will start from £24,245 on the road, placing it among the most competitively priced EVs on sale in Britain. At that level, Kia claims the EV2 also delivers one of the strongest driving ranges available for under £25,000, with a maximum of up to 281 miles on a single charge, subject to final WLTP confirmation.
Order books are now open, with first UK deliveries expected later in 2026. The car has been designed, engineered and built in Europe, underlining Kia’s strategy of tailoring its electric line-up to local demand.

Kia EV2 trim levels and batteries
Buyers will be offered a choice of four trims, spanning from the entry-level ‘Air’ through ‘First Edition’ to the sportier ‘GT-Line’ and range-topping ‘GT-Line S’. The structure mirrors that of Kia’s broader electric portfolio, including models such as the Kia EV3 and Kia EV6, helping to maintain consistency across the range.
Two battery options will be available from launch. The ‘First Edition’ is fitted with a 42.2kWh pack, while all other variants use a larger 61.0kWh unit designed to maximise range.

Kia EV2 performance
Both versions use a single front-mounted electric motor driving the front wheels, producing 144bhp in standard-range form and 133bhp in long-range guise. The difference reflects a focus on efficiency in higher-capacity models rather than outright performance.
Acceleration from 0 to 62mph takes 8.7 seconds in the standard-range version and 9.5 seconds in long-range models, with all variants delivering 250Nm of torque and a top speed of 100mph. The EV2 sits on Kia’s dedicated E-GMP electric platform, which also underpins larger models in the line-up.

Kia EV2 charging
Charging performance is in line with expectations for this class. Using a 150kW DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 10 to 80 per cent in around half an hour, while a full charge using an 11kW home or public AC connection takes between just over five hours and a little more than seven hours, depending on battery size.

Kia EV2 final notes
Kia is also introducing a pricing safeguard as it awaits confirmation on the UK Government’s Electric Car Grant. Through what it calls a “Reservation Saving”, customers placing early orders will receive a discount equivalent to the anticipated incentive. This equates to £3,750 off most versions, including ‘Air’, ‘GT-Line’ and ‘GT-Line S’, while the ‘First Edition’ attracts a £1,500 reduction.
Finance is expected to play a key role in the EV2’s appeal, with entry-level examples available from around £195 per month, positioning the model as an accessible step into electric motoring at a time when affordability remains a key barrier for many buyers.
