Slick new Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric arrives

  • New Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric launched
  • Swoopy sibling to Cayenne SUV Electric
  • 415-mile range
  • Peak power of 1,156 PS
  • 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds
  • Priced from £86,000

What do you get if you cross the Porsche 911 with an electric SUV?

The answer is this, the new swooping new Cayenne Coupe Electric, with Porsche calling it a ‘sports car through and through’.

The Cayenne Coupe Electric joins the already-launched Cayenne SUV Electric in the German firm’s range and takes aim at rivals like the Lotus Eletre.

There’s a monstrous amount of power (as you get with the Cayenne SUV Electric) and it’ll hurtle from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds (again, the same as its SUV sibling).

And with a range of up to 415 miles between charges (11 miles more than you get with the Cayenne SUV Electric) it’s got the legs to go the distance.

Here’s everything you need to know.

Is the Cayenne Coupe Electric inspired by the Porsche 911?

Yep, that coupe shape you’re looking at is based on the svelte lines of the Porsche 911 sports car.

Porsche refers to that silhouette as the ‘flyline’ and says it’s an ‘emotive design’ shaped to stir the senses while combining ‘powerful proportions with exceptional e-performance’.

A sloping rear end also improves aero, which adds more electric range compared with the Cayenne SUV Electric, while not impinging on passenger space.

Thomas Stopka, Head of Exterior Design & Style at Porsche, tells us: “Precisely drawn lines, wide proportions and high-gloss black side window strips form a design that exudes sportiness in every detail. Extroverted and clearly positioned, the new Cayenne Coupé Electric is a sports car through and through.”

What’s the range of the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric?

The range varies depending on the model, but it maxes out at 415 miles and at the very least you’ll get 358 miles between charges (which is a good chunk more than you get with the Lotus Eletre).

All models are powered by a 113 kWh battery and underpinned by swanky 800-volt architecture.

How powerful is the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric?

In a word, very.

The performance stats for the Cayenne Coupe Electric are identical to those of the Cayenne SUV Electric.

So, you get the base model with 442 PS, the Cayenne S with a devilish 666 PS, and the range-topping Turbo with a frankly astonishing 1,156 PS.

All those quoted power figures are when you’ve got overboost Launch Control engaged, and they drop slightly when you don’t.

The Cayenne Turbo Coupe Electric can bolt from 0-62mph in just 2.5 seconds, which is only 0.2 of a second slower than the 1,034 PS Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.

Thankfully you get adaptive air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as standard to keep all of that oomph harnessed to the road.

How fast can you charge the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric?

That aforementioned 800-volt architecture means the Cayenne Coupe Electric will take rapid charging at speeds up to 390 KW DC (and 400 kW DC in some circumstances), which can restore the energy in the battery from 10-80% in just 16 minutes.

That’s right up there with the best in the biz and should ensure the Coupe is easy to live with.

How much does the Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric cost in the UK?

The Porsche Cayenne Coupe Electric begins at £86,000 for the base model, which is slightly more expensive than the entry-level Cayenne SUV Electric, which starts from £83,200.

The Cayenne S Coupe Electric is priced from £103,100 and the high-performance Turbo model costs from £133,300.

The Lotus Eletre commands similar money, with the base model beginning at £86,305.

And, of course, you can swerve those hefty upfront costs when you lease one instead. Interested? Have a chat with one of our expert leasing consultants.
