Check out our Lotus Eletre video review!
The all-electric Eletre ‘hyper SUV’ is a new breed of vehicle from Lotus - and one that marries 75 years’ worth of performance engineering with the firm’s most advanced powertrain.
Lotus has taken all of its sports car wizardry and applied it to what it calls a ‘lifestyle car’, one that comes with all-wheel drive and power of at least 603 hp.
And with a blisteringly-quick ‘R’ model also available, the Lotus Eletre is a match for electric rivals such as the Tesla Model X, as well as the traditionally-fuelled Lamborghini Urus and Aston Martin DBX.
There are three versions of the Eletre - the Eletre, Eletre S and Eletre R - all of which share the same large 112 kWh battery.
The single-motor Eletre and the Eletre S have identical performance figures, making 603 hp, sprinting from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds, and being able to travel 373 miles between charges.
The Eletre R, however, takes power up to 905 hp and boasts 985 Nm of torque. The R is capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 2.95 seconds, which is just a shade slower than the 1020 hp Tesla Model X ‘Plaid’, which can hit 62 mph from a standstill in 2.6 seconds.
Yet for all that performance, the Lotus Eletre R still enjoys a range of up to 304 miles between charges.
Top speed for the carbon fibre-laden R model is 165 mph, which trumps the Model X Plaid’s 163 mph max figure
