The Jaecoo 7 SUV is continuing its extraordinary rise to fame after being named the most popular lease car of 2026 so far.

The figures have been revealed by Select Car Leasing, the UK’s largest leasing broker by volume, and show the Jaecoo 7 inching ahead of nearest rival the Kia Sportage.

The Jaecoo 7 has been likened to a ‘baby Range Rover’ thanks to its sleek styling and affordable asking price.

And the Chinese SUV has taken the UK new car market by storm since its launch at the beginning of 2025.

It was the best-selling new car in Britain in March, according to registration figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT).

Besides being Select Car Leasing’s most-ordered vehicle in 2026 so far, the Jaecoo 7 was also the most-leased car with Select in 2025 as a whole.

Elsewhere in Select’s Top 10, the list is dominated by SUVs, with only the BYD Seal saloon and BYD Dolphin Surf hatchback deviating from that body type.

Half of the top 10 are fully-electric while four of the 10 are cars from Chinese manufacturers.

Geoff Cockerill, Director of Operations at Select Car Leasing, said: “The Jaecoo 7 continues its dominance in what is one of the biggest automotive success stories in a generation.

“The appeal is obvious; the Jaecoo 7 is affordably priced, well equipped as standard, and is also available with petrol, hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrains, giving customers added flexibility.

“It’s also fascinating to see other Chinese manufacturers like BYD and Leapmotor in our top 10 most-leased run-down. It’s clear customers aren’t afraid to explore new brands when they see real value in a deal.”

The Ford Puma - the UK’s best-selling car of the year so far according to SMMT data - sits just outside the top 10, in 11th place, according to Select Car Leasing’s vehicle order numbers for 2026 so far.
