More power and added range for new Rolls-Royce Spectre

  • Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II
  • Evolution of firm’s electric coupe first launched in 2022
  • Power up to 592 hp (from around 577 hp)
  • Max range now 390 miles (way up from around 329 miles)
  • Jaw-dropping style tweaks all round
  • Expect to pay around £350,000 for the privilege

One of the most elegant EVs going has just had a major update - and the new Rolls-Royce Spectre is more powerful than ever before.

The Spectre was first launched back in 2022 as the British firm’s first ever electric vehicle.

What you’re looking at here is the Series II iteration of the swanky two-door coupe, which will be offered as both the regular Spectre and a more potent ‘Black Badge’ model.

Here’s everything you need to know.

What’s new with the Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II?

The super-coupe’s fastback stance and split headlamp design remain, but there are a few exterior style tweaks of note.

The Spectre Series II gets new 23-inch alloys with a multi-spoke design. Each wheel is also hand-finished for up to six hours to get a ‘diamond-like definition’, says Rolls-Royce.

Inside, the biggest changes are found in the marque's ever-expanding Bespoke programme.

Spectre Series II introduces Duality Twill, a bamboo-derived textile inspired by the French Riviera, which can require up to 25 hours, 10 miles of thread and 2.6 million stitches to complete.

The dashboard has been redesigned with a new illuminated fascia featuring more than 8,000 individual light elements, while a new aviation-inspired clock is joined by an illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy (the iconic Rolls-Royce statue).

What about the Black Badge Spectre Series II?

As you might gather from the name, the Black Badge Spectre adds more in the way of moody drama.

There’s an ‘Iced Black’ exterior that turns the car’s brightwork into a matte finish. And, yeah, even the Spirit of Ecstasy is rendered black on the bonnet.

There are also sportier black alloys with a subtle sparkle effect, achieved through fine glass flakes being embedded within the finish.

Is the new Rolls-Royce Spectre more powerful than before?

Yep, there’s a fairly substantial boost in both power and electric range for the Rolls-Royce Spectre Series II.

Thanks to revised tech for the 112.4 kWh battery, the Spectre Series II can now travel up to 390 miles on a charge - an increase of up to 18% on the old model.

Charging times have also been reduced by up to 14%, with speeds up to 195 kW.

Performance has improved, too.

The standard Spectre now delivers 592 hp (442kW) and 1,015 Nm of torque, while the Black Badge Spectre Series II retains its position as the most powerful Rolls-Royce ever built. Activate Infinity Mode and power rises to a very decent 670 hp (500kW), while Spirited Mode unlocks a colossal 1,100Nm of torque.

That’s enough to see the regular Spectre launch from 0-62mph in 4.5 seconds and the Black Badge variant hitting 62mph in 4.3 seconds.

Chris Brownridge, Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, tells us: “This refinement of a modern masterpiece is made in the spirit of our co-founder, Sir Henry Royce, who said: ‘Small things make perfection, but perfection is no small thing’.”

It’s set to cost from £350,000, before you even start thinking about customising it.

Matthew my main contact has been great from start to finish. The only snag was a delay in the car being re--registered.
