- Production milestone for Porsche Macan
- Compact SUV manufactured since 2013
- One million models now made
- 82,795 were delivered in 2024
- Reasons to lease a Porsche Macan or Porsche Macan Electric

A million motorists can’t all be wrong - which is why we’re celebrating the success story that is the Porsche Macan.
The millionth Macan has just rolled off the line at its factory in Leipzig, Germany, where the compact SUV has been produced since 2013.
A cool 82,795 vehicles were delivered to customers last year alone.

And with the Macan range expanding in 2024 to include an electric version, the 1,500 employees who specifically work on the sporty SUV will be kept busy.
Gerd Rupp, Chairman of the Management Board of Porsche Leipzig, said: “The Macan is inseparably linked to Leipzig. The model represents growth and change like no other. It symbolises both the expansion of the site into a full factory between 2011 and 2013 and the start of the plant’s entry into the era of electromobility.”

The landmark millionth model is a Macan 4 (the second rung of the Electric line-up) in Frozen Blue Metallic with a two-tone leather interior in Black and Chalk, adaptive sports sports, an augmented reality head-up display, and a panoramic roof.

What are the different versions of the petrol Porsche Macan?
Let’s start with the petrol models.
All come with reassuring all-wheel drive and all also get the ‘Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, or ‘PDK’ double-clutch automatic gearbox.
You’ve got a choice of four models; the base Macan, followed by the Macan T, the Macan S, and the Macan GTS.

The entry-level Macan is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine with 265 PS to play with, and will accelerate from 0-62 mph in 6.2 seconds.
Standard equipment includes 19-inch alloys, heated front seats, three-zone climate control, a reversing camera, and leatherette and Sport-Tex upholstery.
The Macan T uses the same 2.0-litre engine and the power and acceleration figures also remain the same. So, what’s the difference?

The difference between the base Macan and the Macan T is that you get better handling, courtesy of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system as well as stiffer anti-roll bars and a lowered (by 15mm) ride height.
You also get larger 20-inch alloys and exterior and interior style flourishes.
If the Macan T is all about sporting precision and agility, the Macan S brings the muscle and straight-line speed.

The Macan S introduces a larger 2.9-litre V6 petrol engine as the oomph goes up to 380 PS. Acceleration from 0-62 mph is done away with in just 4.6 seconds and you also get larger, performance-tuned brakes.
And then there’s the range-topping Macan GTS - which comes with 440 PS and the ability to sprint to 62 mph from a standstill in 4.3 seconds. You’ll also enjoy lowered air suspension, uprated brakes, 21-inch black alloys, a full-on sports exhausts, and Alcantara upholstery in the cabin.

What are the different versions of the Porsche Macan Electric?
Like the petrol Macan, the Macan Electric is available in four flavours; Macan Electric, Macan 4 Electric, Macan 4S Electric, and the raucous Macan Turbo Electric.
That range-topping Turbo model is a rip-snorter, coming with 639 PS and a 0-62 mph acceleration speed that dips as low as 3.3 seconds, which wipes the floor with most petrol-powered compact SUVs.
The entry-level Macan Electric isn’t all-wheel drive, but here a single motor powers the rear wheels and a 100 kWh battery unlocks a range of up to 398 miles between charges.

The Macan 4 and the Macan 4S are, as you might imagine, dual-motor and all-wheel drive (as is the Macan Turbo).
Here the electric range dips slightly, but not by much, to around 377-380 miles while performance is still brisk; the Macan 4S Electric will whip from 0-62 mph in 4.1 seconds.

The Macan’s 800-volt electric architecture means rapid charging can reach speeds of up to 270 kW DC, which can replenish the energy from 10-80 per cent in just 21 minutes.
And all models come loaded with kit, with the entry-level Macan Electric boasting an efficiency boosting heat pump, a power tailgate, and heated front seats.

What are the main rivals to a Porsche Macan?
On the petrol front, you’re looking at lease vehicles like the BMW X3 and Audi Q5.
And on the electric side of things, you’ll want to consider SUVs like the Audi Q6 e-tron, BMW iX, Polestar 3 and even the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.
