Hyundai Ioniq 6 N revealed in full!

  • New Hyundai Ioniq 6 N cuts loose
  • Power of 650 PS
  • Acceleration from 0-62 mph in 3.2 seconds
  • Gets N Drift Optimizer, N Grin Boost - and more
  • Companion car to the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N
  • Set to arrive early 2026

Here it is - the new Hyundai Ioniq 6 N, the firm’s second high-performance EV after the Ioniq 5 N SUV.

The Ioniq 6 is Hyundai’s eye-catching, super-streamlined electric saloon that has been available to lease since 2022.

Back in June, the Korean firm teased a more powerful ‘N’ version. And this is it; a 650 PS blue ballistic missile that’ll happily go sideways around a racetrack.

Here's everything you need to know:

How powerful is the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N?

The Ioniq 6 N is the saloon-shaped sibling to the already-launched (and completely unhinged) Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

And the teardrop-shaped Ioniq 6 gets the same amount of power as its SUV stablemate.

In normal use you get 609 PS courtesy of the car’s 84 kWh battery.

But when you whack the N Grin Boost button the oomph shoots up to 650 PS and 770 Nm of torque (for a 10-second jolt of adrenaline).

With the Boost engaged the power is split, with 238 PS going to the front wheels and 412 PS channelled to the back, for some rear-wheel biased fun.

How fast is the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N?

If you punch the N Launch Control button (which helps to reduce wheel slip) you’ll be able to scamper from 0-62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

To put that figure into perspective, it’s quicker than the 3.4 seconds the less aero-honed Ioniq 5 N takes to hit 62 mph. The Ioniq 6 N is also more rapid off the mark than the Porsche Taycan saloon in swanky GTS trim, which is a stat not to be sniffed at.

Does the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N have a Drift button like the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N?

Indeed it does! And there are other functions guaranteed to put a smile on your face.

The N e-Shift and N Active Sound+ systems simulates the feel and noise of rowing through gears on a petrol-engined car.

The N Pedal enables agile cornering with three selectable levels for faster tuck-in motion.

And then there’s the N Drift Optimizer, which can both initiate a drift while keeping the wheels spinning as you slide sideways with a big daft grin on your face. Recommended from track use only, not Tesco car parks.

And then there’s the car’s styling, which features swan neck rear wing and widened fenders.

What are the main rivals to the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N?

Besides the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N SUV, you'll also be looking at alternatives like the Tesla Model 3 in Performance trim, the Polestar 2 with the Performance pack, and the BMW i4 in M50 mode.

What's the EV range of the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N?

The Ioniq 6 N’s electric range between charges is due to be announced later this year, ahead of the car’s full launch early in 2026.

We don’t know how much it’ll cost just yet, either, but we’d anticipate a fee close to £70,000.

More details as we get ‘em!
