- CUPRA Formentor VZ5 accelerates to UK
- Most powerful Formentor ever
- Same engine as the Audi RS3
- Power of 390 PS and all-wheel drive
- Priced from £64,495
- Limited to just 4,000 models globally

Love the Audi RS3 but want something a bit more practical? CUPRA might just have the answer.
The CUPRA Formentor VZ5 - the most powerful Formentor ever - is coming to the UK.
First launched in Europe back in 2021, the Formentor VZ5 borrows the iconic 2.5-litre, five cylinder engine from the Audi RS3 and puts it into a higher-riding coupe SUV package.
While the original VZ5 was only built as left-hand drive, the new model is offered in right-hand drive.
That makes it available to drivers in Britain for the first time - and also gets us excited.

How powerful is the CUPRA VZ5?
There’s no shortage of power in the Formentor range.
The VZ models can already be equipped with a 2.0-litre petrol unit that combines 333 PS with all-wheel drive - and which is borrowed from the potent VW Golf R.
But the new VZ5 ups the ante.
The larger 2.5-litre mill delivers 390 PS and 480 Nm torque across a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission.

Paired with CUPRA’s all-wheel drive system and integrated torque splitter technology, the VZ5 can accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.2 seconds.
That’s 0.4 seconds slower than the Audi RS3, but still plenty quick enough.
How has CUPRA got its hands on engines from Audi and VW, we hear you ask? Those brands all fall under the umbrella of parent company the Volkswagen Group, and it’s common for the different manufacturers to share powertrains.

Does the CUPRA Formentor VZ5 look sportier than other trims?
It does indeed.
You get a unique front bumper, a front splitter with an engraved VZ5 logo, wider wheel arches, and a more aggressive rear bumper and diffuser.
Copper detailing is a given.
The VZ5 is available in a range of matt or metallic colour options, from Midnight Black to Century Bronze Matt.
And the cabin enjoys ambient lighting and CUPRA’s famous ‘CUP’ bucket seats.
Priced from £64,495 OTR, the Formentor VZ5 will be on UK roads in Q4 this year.
