Skoda has revisited one of its most unusual vehicles, digitally reimagining the bright yellow Felicia Fun pick-up for 2025.
The Felicia Fun, sold between 1997 and 2000, was based on the Felicia Pick-up but swapped builder-friendly practicality for a bold lifestyle twist. Its sliding bulkhead revealed two flip-up seats in the load bed, turning it into a four-seater open-air runabout. Just over 4,000 were built, and it remains one of Skoda’s rarest production vehicles.
In fact, DVLA records show how just 80 remain licensed in the UK.
French designer Julien Petitseigneur — usually in charge of interior design at the Czech firm — has now given the Fun a digital reboot, blending Skoda’s current ‘Modern Solid’ design language with playful retro touches.
The bright yellow paint and tailgate spoiler return, of course, but new features include a ‘Tech-Deck Face’ grille flanked by slim LED headlights, chunky cladding, and neon pink highlights in the wheels, glass and rear light bar.
Inside, Petitseigneur envisioned a full-width display styled to resemble old-school CRT monitors, complete with retro video game graphics.
The flip-up seats haven’t been recreated, leaving this a strict two-seater, but the proportions suggest they could be possible if the model ever left the drawing board.
“The original car was pure fun – it didn’t take itself too seriously, and it stood out in a way that few other Skodas ever have,” said Petitseigneur. “For me, it was the obvious choice to reimagine. I even found myself looking at buying an original while working on the sketches.”
The study exists only as digital artwork and isn’t planned for production, but it shows how even the quirkiest corners of Skoda’s back catalogue can still inspire fresh ideas nearly 30 years later.
