- New Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon
- Extreme new version of famous muscle car
- Paint jettisoned in favour of exposed carbon fibre
- Street legal… but barely
- Built for the American market
- Expected to cost from around £300,000

This is the moody new Ford Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon - and you wouldn’t want to meet it in a dark alley.
Back in 2023, just before the latest, seventh generation Ford Mustang officially arrived in Europe, Ford teased an aggressive GTD variant.

Inspired by the Mustang GT3 race car, the GTD was billed as the ‘most audacious’ Mustang ever created and ‘engineered to go like hell’, thanks to a 5.2-litre V8 engine chucking out 800 hp.
Here in the UK, the Mustang GTD is as rare as hen’s teeth, with production strictly limited and the beefed-up muscle car beginning at around £250,000.

They’re more common across The Pond, though, and this new ‘barely road legal’ GTD Liquid Carbon is built for our American cousins.
The regular GTD is already laced with carbon fibre, with carbon body panels reducing weight and lowering the centre of gravity. The GTD Liquid Carbon puts that fibre in the spotlight by ditching a trip to the paint shop and leaving it all exposed instead.

The look is utterly dramatic and has the GTD looking like an evil villain in a sci-fi movie.
There are also practical implications, with Ford revealing how deleting the paint leads to a weight saving of around 13 lbs compared to the US-spec Mustang GTD Carbon Series with the Performance package.

Ford says customer deliveries will begin this October and while it hasn’t revealed the price, it’s likely to be north of £300,000.
Mustang GTD Chief Programme Engineer Greg Goodall said: “Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon is the ultimate expression of the Mustang GTD’s high-tech, high-performance construction and is a reminder of the race-derived, cutting-edge capability that sits beneath the surface of every Mustang GTD. Mustang GTD is a great looking car and now it stands out even more with its striking exposed carbon body and functional aero elements.”

Besides the carbon, there are black Brembo brakes, black leather and Dinamica microfibre upholstery, and ’Hyper Lime’ stitching on the seats, door panels, center console, instrument panel, and steering wheel.
Killer looks match frightening pace with the Ford Mustang GTD. It has lapped the Nürburgring Nordschleife racetrack in under 7 minutes and has a top speed of 202 mph.
