New Isuzu D-Max EV lands with uncompromised capability and a £60k price tag

Isuzu has announced pricing for its first fully electric pick-up, and it’s not holding back. 

The new D-Max EV combines proper 4x4 ability, a one-tonne payload, and a 3.5-tonne towing limit, making it the first electric truck in the UK that’s up for hard graft.

Prices start at £59,995 plus VAT, with the range-topping model coming in at £62,495. That’s a significant leap over diesel models — a diesel-powered DL40 Double Cab is currently £39,400 plus VAT, while the diesel V-Cross costs £40,900, so going electric adds more than £20,000 to the bill before any government grants are factored in.

But for businesses or buyers ready to switch to electric vehicles without compromising usability — think Forestry Commission, quarry works, and mining — the D-Max EV might just be the answer.

Unveiled at the 2025 Commercial Vehicle Show, the D-Max EV is powered by a 66.9kWh battery with a dual-motor setup delivering 190hp (140kW) and 325Nm of torque. That’s all put to the floor through a full-time four-wheel drive system. Isuzu claims it’ll do around 163 miles on a full charge.

The D-Max EV is rated to carry 1,000kg in the load bay and tow up to 3,500kg, just like its diesel equivalent. That makes it ideal for everything from site work and towing trailers to getting muddy on the weekend.

Buyers will have a choice of two high-spec trim levels, eDL40 and eV-Cross, with all versions featuring Bi-LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, underbody protection, heated leather seats, dual-zone climate control, and a touchscreen infotainment system.

Pre-orders for the D-Max EV are expected to open later this year, with the first UK arrivals anticipated in February 2026.
