Bentley teases its first electric car - the Torcal

  • New Bentley Torcal teased
  • Fourth model line in the Bentley portfolio
  • Bentley isn’t saying as much just yet, but Torcal widely tipped to be an EV
  • Powertrain and range still to be revealed
  • But could share underpinnings with Porsche Cayenne Electric

Bentley is preparing to launch its first ever electric vehicle - the ‘effortless’ Torcal.

The Torcal will get its full UK debut on 23rd September 2026 where it’ll slot into the Bentley line-up alongside the Continental GT, Flying Spur and Bentayga.

So far, details are thin on the ground - and we’ve only got this one rear shot to gawp at.

But here’s everything we know so far.

Is the Bentley Torcal electric?

While Bentley is keeping its cards close to its chest when it comes to the Torcal’s powertrain, it’s almost certainly going to be an EV.

Crewe’s finest have already let slip that the Torcal will have a range of up to 350 miles between charges - with that distance described as the sweet spot before the car’s owners end up using their private jet instead!

Is the Bentley Torcal an SUV?

Again, we’ve no official confirmation from Bentley just yet but the Torcal will be a luxurious SUV in the same mould as the Bentley Bentayga - and similarly sized, too.

With Bentley forming part of the Volkswagen Group, the Torcal is expected to share its underpinnings with the Porsche Cayenne Electric (in the same way that the Bentayga has much in common with the traditionally-fuelled Porsche Cayenne).

The Porsche Cayenne Electric gets a massive 113 kWh battery and a range of up to 405 miles. But the Torcal is likely to be heavier (more luxurious materials, thicker glass, and more sound insulation = more heft) so that 350-mile anticipated range figure sounds about right.

The Torcal is unlikely to get the 1,156 PS and 1,500 Nm torque of the range-topping Porsche Cayenne Electric Turbo, but could well get the 666 PS of the Cayenne S Electric.

What is the Bentley Torcal named after?

Like the Bentayga, Bacalar and Batur before it, the Torcal takes its name from a natural landmark.

El Torcal de Antequera is one of Spain's most spectacular limestone landscapes - a protected nature reserve in the province of Málaga, Andalusia.

Think of it like a Spanish Malham Cove (folks from Yorkshire will know what I’m talking about here…), and it’s a popular day trip from the Costa del Sol.

Bentley also tells us: “The word Torcal is also derived from the latin ‘torquere’, meaning to twist, and is the root from which the modern word torque also traces its foundation. Torcal therefore also implies effortless progression, another hallmark of every Bentley from across the last 107 years.”

Bentley’s Chairman and CEO, Dr. Frank-Steffen Walliser, adds: “Our new Torcal sets extraordinary benchmarks in every area that matters, and may just be the most considered car in our history.”
