This is the new AC GT SuperSport - and it’s one of the most astonishing British sports cars we’ve ever laid eyes on.
AC is something of an icon of UK car manufacturing, with a history dating all the way back to 1901.
The legendary AC Cobra was, famously, beloved of the late racer Carroll Shelby and his influence thrust the roadster onto the world stage.
In 2023 AC, now headed by Swiss entrepreneur David Conza, revealed the open-top Cobra GT Coupe, marking something of a comeback.
And now AC has unleashed THIS - the Cobra-inspired GT SuperSport. With 1,025 bhp on tap, it’s more powerful than a McLaren P1.
Just 25 examples to be built, with existing clients given priority and with American punters in mind - as you can tell by the $550,000 price tag.
An AC spokesperson tells us: “The newly sculpted bodywork integrates dramatic aerodynamics, along with a widened track, dominant rear wing, and redefined front grille. The iconic sports car’s silhouette may remain, but the result is shocking in terms of presence and performance.”
As ever, this Cobra variant will be powered by a signature 5.0-litre V8.
David Conza, CEO of AC Cars, adds: “It is fitting that we launch our most formidable model with AC Cars America, and the AC GT SuperSport will cement itself as true icon of automotive engineering. Despite the comprehensive overhaul in design, there’s no doubting the car’s lineage and we’re ready to release the car’s true potential.”
