The Preston office of national broker Select Car Leasing is celebrating record year-on-year growth.
An expanded team of leasing consultants, a dynamic new management strategy and more face-to-face meetings have all led to big wins for the office.
Steven Clarke, Principal of Select Car Leasing Preston, says the past 12 months has brought the ‘feel-good factor’ to their Lancashire HQ.

He said: “We’ve enjoyed considerable growth in the past 12 months and there’s a real feel-good factor to the entire team here at Select Car Leasing Preston.
“We’ve increased the number of leasing consultants by 30% compared with two years ago and that expanded team has helped us to increase our sales by 20% in the past twelve months.
“But our success goes beyond just adding more sales staff. We’re building better networks, investing in the workplace to improve staff wellbeing, and going out to visit more and more business clients.
“Those face-to-face meetings are so crucial; they give us a deeper understanding of what our customers need and help us to create stronger relationships.
“And as a business that’s now 32 years old, we’re also doing more renewals and repeat business than ever before.”
Sales for Select Car Leasing Preston were up 20 per cent/ a fifth across the last financial year.

“This is the best team we’ve ever had”
Select Car Leasing Preston is led by Principals Steven Clarke and Tony Cameron. Together, they formed Cameron Clarke Leasing in 1994.
In 2020, the business became the first Appointed Representative of Select Car Leasing, taking advantage of the market specialist’s national buying power and sophisticated online systems.
While the Preston team’s focus on customer service hasn’t changed, what has been tweaked is the set-up of the group’s structure.
Former leasing consultant Ben Egleton was recently promoted to Business Manager in order to oversee staff development and training - and that appointment has proved pivotal.

Tony Cameron explains: “Appointing Ben to Business Manager has worked really well for us. He’s loved by the group and he’s helping everyone to thrive.
“In my view, this is the best team we’ve ever had - and we’re looking to recruit more leasing consultants by the end of summer.
“What sort of person are we looking for? They need to be tenacious and driven but they also need to be a team player who really cares about the people they’re working with. That’s just as important to us as being a good salesperson.”
Tony also says they’ve made ‘marginal gains’ across the office in an effort to improve productivity; including a new kitchen, upgraded lighting, and a new ‘media suite’ where staff can host and present to visitors.
More defined roles
Steven and Tony have been friends for more than 40 years and in business for more than three decades.
How has their relationship evolved and adapted to current demands?

Steven, a member of various business networks across Greater Manchester and Central & East Lancashire, explains: “There was a point in time where Tony and I would try and do everything.
“But we’ve really redefined our roles in the past 12 months to streamline efficiency. Tony is hands-on behind the scenes, dealing with the back office and administration, while I’m heavily involved with the sales team.
“It’s a far better way of doing things and our lives have been made much easier. It’s never too late to implement change, no matter how long you’ve been working with each other.”
