Sometimes the top-rung, most powerful Ford Mustang just still isn’t hot enough - which is why we present to you this Hennessey-honed Dark Horse!
The latest Ford Mustang coupe and convertible was launched earlier this year - and is also available to lease with Select.
The most potent version of everyone’s favourite muscle car is the aggressive, track-ready ‘Dark Horse’ variant, which comes with goodies like a Torsen limited-slip diff, MagneRide active suspension, ample power of 453 PS and a 0-62mph acceleration time of just 4.4 seconds.
Now, however, American hypercar manufacturer and tuning experts Hennessey - which has been ‘making fast cars faster since 1991’ - has run riot with the regular Mustang Dark Horse, upgrading various elements to eke-out a whopping 850 hp from its stock 5.0-litre V8 engine.
The supercharged 'H850' Mustang Dark Horse now gallops from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and will do a quarter mile in 10.9 seconds.
A Hennessey spokesperson tells us: “The stock Dark Horse has a naturally aspirated Gen-4 Coyote 5.0-liter V8, to which Hennessey adds a high-performance supercharger, high-flow air induction system, upgraded fuel injectors and fuel pump, plus Hennessey’s rigorously developed engine management system.”
John Hennessey, company Founder, and CEO, says the H850 has been built to stir the soul.
He adds: “We’re excited to unleash Hennessey’s passion for performance on America’s most iconic muscle car with all the sights, sounds, smells, and sensations that get our blood pumping!”
Customers can also visually enhance their Dark Horse with optional Hennessey Heritage Graphics and forged performance wheels in gloss anthracite.
The Hennessey H850 package costs from $24,950 - on top of what you’d pay for the Mustang Dark Horse itself, which begins at £67,995 here in the UK.
While you’ll struggle to get hold of a Hennessey Dark Horse in Britain, you can actually purchase Hennessey cars here in the UK, thanks to the H.R. Owen Luxury Motor Group, based in London’s Mayfair, which is an exclusive authorised Hennessey retailer.
