Stunning Alfa Romeo Milano breaks cover!

Say hello to the new Alfa Romeo Milano SUV - and just check out that show-stopping front end.

As it stands, Alfa Romeo doesn’t really have a compact car in its line-up. The Mito and the Guilietta have both been discontinued in recent years and the nearest you’ll get to an ‘urban’ lease car is the Tonale, which is still about the same size as a BMW X2.

All that’s about to change, though, as the Milano strides forward to plug the gap for a youthful, fun and downright good-looking option.

Order books will open this summer - and this is what we know so far.

Firstly, Alfa Romeo is making a big deal about this being an electric car with a 250-mile range.

A 54 kWh battery also translates to two different power outputs - 156 hp or a very decent 240 hp with the range-topping Veloce models.

But, besides the electric ‘Elettrica’ variant, the Milano will also be available with a more affordable petrol mild-hybrid engine with power of 134 hp. That hybrid will, eventually, also be available to lease with an all-wheel drive transmission.

When it comes to the styling, Alfa Romeo appears to be onto a winner here, as it looks fabulous, with the manufacturer’s trademark shield logo integrated into the front grille. It’s a classy look which Alfa says is ‘Italian at first sight’, which is hard to disagree with.

The cabin features a 10.25-inch digital cockpit, a 10.25-inch touchscreen, and the infotainment system can be customised to your own personal tastes by dragging and dropping the widgets you use most.

A generous 400 litres of luggage space lags just behind rivals like the Ford Puma or Peugeot 2008, but it’s on a par with the Jeep Avenger, the latter of which will be one of the Milano’s key competitors.

The Milano should also handle well. The driving dynamics have been set up by the same team that honed the raucous Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA super saloon that wowed the world in 2021.

The electric Milana supports rapid charging at 100 kW, which should take the battery from 10-80% full in less than 30 minutes.

And that ‘Elettrica’ mode will be offered in three trims.

The entry-level version, simply called Elettrica, gets 18-inch alloys and full LED headlights.

The Elettrica Speciale adds a unique body kit with red accents, an uprated interior with electric seats with massage function, and privacy class. At this grade lease customers will also enjoy level 2 autonomous driving, connected navigation, a 180-degree rear camera, hands-free electric tailgate and a keyless system with proximity access technology. .

Meanwhile the Elettrica 240 Veloce adds more power - up to 240 hp - as well as larger 20-inch alloys, sports suspension, and a Torsen limited-slip differential.

Prices and full specs are still to be confirmed - but we’ll bring you those details when we get them.

From the initial contact through to delivery it’s been a great experience with Select. Ronnie was quick to respond to my enquiry and provide the information needed to make a quick decision. She and other colleagues also followed up throughout the process to make sure I knew what was happening and to make sure I was ready for delivery and all was ok when the car arrived. The customer portal they have for the process is also easy to use. I’ve been really happy with the experience and would definitely recommend Select if you’re looking to lease a car.
