BYD is poised to launch its first seven-seater - and the Ti7 will take aim at premium rivals like the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser.
There’s no shortage of SUVs in the current BYD line-up, with the electric Sealion 7 currently occupying the top spot in the range.
But all that will change when the BYD Ti7 arrives in the UK later this year as the firm’s new flagship.
How big is the BYD Ti7?
The BYD Ti7 measures 5,146mm long, 1,995mm wide and 1,865mm tall, which puts it squarely into Land Rover Defender, BMW X7 and Toyota Land Cruiser territory.
Seven seats across three rows is a given, as are boxy proportions, wheel arch extensions, and a vertical drop-off at the rear.
BYD says the Ti7 will appeal to larger families and those with an active lifestyle - and the SUV’s off-road capabilities will make it particularly suited to those who love the great outdoors.

Is the BYD Ti7 a plug-in hybrid?
Yes, the BYD Ti7 is a plug-in hybrid that’s underpinned by a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and two electric motors that drive all four wheels.
Precise details are still to be confirmed, but BYD say the Ti7 will be capable of accelerating from 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds while enjoying an electric range of up to 79 miles on a single charge.
That’s extremely competitive for the class, and makes the Ti7 even quicker than the range-topping ‘T8’ variant of the plug-in hybrid Volvo XC90.
