A drum roll, please, for the incoming CUPRA Raval - a stylish EV that's hoping to disrupt the city car segment.

The Raval was first teased way back in 2023 when it was billed as a 'rebellious' urban rascal aimed at Gen Z.

CUPRA has now confirmed a summer launch for the Raval - with prices beginning at £23,785.

Here's everything you need to know.

What is the CUPRA Raval?

CUPRA Raval lease customers will be able to choose from Origin, V1, V2 and range-topping VZ variants, all underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s latest MEB+ platform, the same platform used for the Volkswagen ID. Polo and Skoda Epiq.

The entry-level Origin model features a 37kWh battery producing 115PS.

Moving up the range, the V1 and V2 trims offer a choice between a 37kWh unit delivering 135PS or a larger 52kWh battery with 210PS.

The latter is expected to deliver a range of around 280 miles, with rapid charging from 10 to 80 per cent achievable in approximately 23 minutes.

Is there a hot variant of the CUPRA Raval?

The performance-focused CUPRA Raval VZ model is offered exclusively with the 52kWh battery, producing 225PS and offering a range of roughly 250 miles. It also benefits from a suite of dynamic enhancements, including an electronic limited-slip differential and Dynamic Chassis Control.

What's the interior of the CUPRA Raval look like?

Inside the CUPRA Raval, a newly integrated digital instrument cluster comprises a 10.25-inch cockpit display and a 12.9-inch infotainment system, centralising control of the vehicle’s key functions.

The redesigned steering wheel incorporates physical controls alongside satellite buttons for selecting driving modes and adjusting regenerative braking, reinforcing CUPRA’s emphasis on delivering a more tactile and engaging driving experience.

Marcus Gossen, Managing Director of SEAT and CUPRA UK, described the Raval as a defining model for the brand.

He said it represents the culmination of extensive development and embodies CUPRA’s forward-thinking and dynamic character.

According to Gossen, the Raval challenges expectations by combining striking design with electrified performance and unconventional features, ultimately reimagining what an urban electric vehicle can offer to a new generation of drivers.

What are the leasing rivals to the CUPRA Raval?

As we've already mentioned, the incoming VW ID. Polo and Skoda Epiq share much in common with the CUPRA Raval and you'll want to assess those options.

Meanwhile you might also want to look at trendy urban EVs like the Renault 5, Alpine A290, and the super-affordable BYD Dolphin Surf
