This fashion-inspired EV previews the incoming Smart #2 - and gets a range of around 186 miles between charges.
Back in the late Nineties and early Noughties, Smart earned cult-like status by offering a nippy two-seat urban runabout.
The dinky Smart Fortwo went the way of the dodo in 2024 but this, the #2, is a lookalike successor that’s set to launch later this year with a fully electric powertrain.
Smart has now served up a little taste of what you can expect when that car arrives, in the form of the Concept #2 - which brings couture culture to the city.

What is the Smart Concept #2?
Dig out your Louis Vuitton handbag before grabbing your keys, as the Smart Concept #2 is a car where ‘function becomes fashion’, the manufacturer tells us.
It gets a matte white and gold two-tone palette, there are leather flourishes across the exterior, and those funky translucent wheels and white tyres are clearly not built for the UK’s mud-drenched rural roads.
The Concept #2 has been exclusively styled by the Mercedes-Benz Global Design Team (Smart is jointly owned by China’s Geely and the Mercedes-Benz group) and is described as ‘unconventional’, with that word underselling things somewhat!
What range will the Smart #2 have?
We don’t yet know what powertrain the #2 will have, but Smart says it’ll have a range of ‘nearly’ 186 miles between charges - which should be ample for criss-crossing the urban jungle.
Rapid charging will be able to take the battery from 10-80% in 20 mins while you should also get Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities, which lets you power external devices using the car’s battery.
Kai Sieber, Mercedes-Benz Design, Head of Design Smart, said: “We believe a city car should be more than a problem solver; it should spark joy. Carrying the heritage of the Fortwo's iconic design, the Concept #2 translates our bold personality into a new era where 'Function becomes Fashion.' It is not only about clever practicality but serves as a true extension of personal identity.”
The non-concept version of the Smart #2 is due to be revealed this October.
