The super-cool CUPRA Formentor has been named ‘Car of the Year’ ahead of the Nissan Qashqai and Tesla Model Y crossovers.

The accolade comes from website Leasing.com, with judges plumping for the Formentor having rated popular cars on their ‘driving experience’, ‘efficiency’, and ‘safety’.
Commenting on CUPRA’s success, Dave Timmis, founder of Leasing.com, said: “The trio of contenders for the Leasing.com Car of the Year are all exceptional, but it was the Formentor that really shone through. It’s been an incredibly popular car across the personal lease segment thanks to keen pricing, a plethora of engine and drivetrain options, fantastic looks, and that sporty badge.”
The Formentor is a sporty SUV-coupe that rivals the Porsche Macan in top-rung spec.
Speaking of which, the all-wheel drive VZ3 models have power of 310 PS and can accelerate from 0-62mph in just 4.9 seconds.
Plug-in hybrid models are also available, which give you a range of up to 34 miles using electricity alone while also boasting very decent amounts of power (up to 245 PS).
CUPRA also recently launched a brand new trim level for the Formentor in the form of the ‘VZN’ grade, which builds on the VZ3 to add unique styling both inside and out.
At the more affordable end of the scale, the cheapest CUPRA Formentor competes with a host of competitors, like the SEAT Ateca and Kia Sportage, and can be leased with Select Car Leasing from £253 per month*.
Other winners at the Leasing.com awards were the Peugeot 408 (Best Value Lease Car), BMW iX (Best Business Lease), Tesla Model Y (Best Electric Vehicle), Ford Ranger (Best Commercial Vehicle), and the Subaru Solterra (Best Leasing Newcomer).
