Because with a diverse range that covers everything from cutting-edge electric crossovers to powerful plug-in hybrid super SUVs, the German firm has a knack for producing some of the most desirable, yet affordable, vehicles on the face of the planet.

First founded in the 1930s, VW’s quickly amassed a cult-like army of followers which shows no sign of slowing down any time soon.

Recent innovations have seen the fully-electric ID.4 stealing the limelight on the global stage, coming with a range of 322 miles between charges and yet also enjoying a healthy power output of 204PS. The ID.4, and it’s smaller sibling the ID.3, could make a whole lot of sense for business lease customers looking to reduce their Benefit in Kind (BIK) tax bills. The ID.3 also recently won the ‘Best Small Hatch’ title at the UK Car of the Year Awards 2021.

Elsewhere in the VW range you’ll find plug-in hybrid powertrains in the long-running Golf hatchback, as well as the Passat saloon and estate, the Arteon coupe and estate, and also the Tiguan and Touareg SUVs.

Of course, the VW badge also goes hand-in-hand with performance - which is where the GTI and ‘R’ models come in.

The recently rejuvenated Polo GTI has arguably never been better while the Golf R unlocks power of 320 PS and a 0-62 mph time of just 4.7 seconds. The lusted-after Toureg R is even more powerful. A plug-in hybrid, it offers the best of all worlds, with power of 462 PS yet also economy of 96.4 mpg and CO2 emissions of just 66 g/km.

Volkswagen Frequently Asked Questions

Germany’s Volkswagen has been creating cult classics since the 1930s. And that tradition for innovative design and reassuring build quality lives on today. The VW range is extensive, covering everything from affordable superminis, in the shape of the Up!, to modern icons such as the all-electric ID.Buzz van. Plug-in hybrid and electrified powertrains are seen throughout the range, including with the highly-popular Golf hatchback and Tiguan SUV. And, of course, you can also enjoy VW’s legendary performance expertise, courtesy of vehicles like the 462 PS Touareg R hot-SUV.

Both the Volkswagen Golf hatchback and its smaller sibling, the VW Polo, are among the most popular lease cars in the UK - and that doesn’t look like changing any time soon. The Polo was the fifth best-selling car in Britain in 2021, and the Golf was a car’s length behind in sixth. Meanwhile the ‘ID’ range of all-electric crossovers - the ID.3, ID.4, and ID.5 - are setting the benchmark for what can be achieved with affordable, battery-powered vehicles.

With German engineering and decades of technical know-how, it’s no surprise to learn that Volkswagen has an impressive record for safety. The Golf, Polo, Taigo, ID.5, ID.4, ID.3 and T-Cross have all recently been awarded the full five stars from safety assessors Euro NCAP. Whichever Volkswagen you choose, you can also expect a suite of driver assistance and safety software as standard.

The most affordable Volkswagen to lease is the Up! small hatchback, and it’s a great alternative to the Kia Kia Picanto or the Fiat 500. It might be compact and cheap to lease, but it’s still refined, comfortable, well built and surprisingly spacious. A plucky 1.0 litre engine offers fuel economy of up to 54 miles to the gallon in regular models, while the sportier Up! GTI has power of 115 PS and will whisk you from 0-62mph in just 8.8 seconds. The Up! is also generously specced as standard, coming with Lane assist tech and Speed sensitive power steering.

While there are affordable models in the Volkswagen range, there are also highly-desirable vehicles that go toe-to-toe with rivals vehicles from Audi and BMW. The Arteon is a sumptuous executive saloon that gives you the option of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, while the ID.5 is a large electric SUV-hatchback crossover that competes with the award-winning Skoda Enyaq iV and the Kia EV6

If you’re considering a Volkswagen lease, you might also be looking at vehicles from SEAT, Skoda, Hyundai, Kia, Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz

Jeannine of Select Car Leasing was very helpful and her service with the company portal was brilliant. For me this was a big decision and Jeannine was totally professional in her approach of both information and helping me choose the best vehicle and what options suited me. Once I had formally proceeded with contract, Jeannine stayed with me through the process and helped with all questions and communication to dealer. Would totally recommend Select Car and thank you Jeannine for all that you did.
