Free Charging Miles Promotion FAQs
The Free Charging Miles offer is available to new Select Leasing customers who lease selected EVs, or plug-in hybrids, for a period of at least 12 months and are either an existing OVO customer or who join OVO on any plan and sign up to Charge Anytime. You will need to have a compatible charger or EV to be eligible for Charge Anytime, please see here for details. A one-off £140 credit will be applied to your OVO Energy account. The credit is equal to 8,000 free miles of electric driving for customers charging an average sized electric vehicle on Charge Anytime. Actual free miles obtained will depend on your driving style, the weather conditions and your car’s efficiency. Offer runs from 11th October 2023 until 31st August 2024. Charge Anytime is OVO’s low-cost rate for EV drivers that can be added to any OVO energy plan for free. It allows customers to smart-charge their EV for 7p per kWh1, at any time of day or night. That's under 2p a mile2 – around 80% less than the price of petrol.
1 - The 7p per kWh rate is effective whenever you smart charge your EV. If you'd like to override your smart charging schedule to top up quickly, you'll be charged at your standard home energy electricity rate. The next time you charge, you’ll automatically go back to your smart charging schedule.
2 -This saving claim has been calculated by comparing the 'Tesla Model 3 Standard Range RWD: 145 – 305 miles' doing the UK average of 7,000 miles with Charge Anytime with a smart charging rate of 7p per kWh & 4m/kWh versus the 'BMW 3 Series with a 820 Mile Range and 13 Gallon Tank' doing 7,000 miles using petrol where the price per litre is £1.41. The 'Tesla Model 3 Standard Range RWD: 145 – 305 miles' equates to 1.75p per mile. Whilst the 'BMW 3 Series 820 Mile Range, 13 Gallon Tank' equates to 10.2p per mile. Resulting in driving petrol being over 5 times more expensive.
To get the low Charge Anytime rate, you need to switch to OVO if you’re not already a customer. Then add Charge Anytime when your supply starts.
For your energy supply and online account to be fully set up, it can take 4 to 6 weeks – but it could be quicker than that. As soon as you’re ready to go, head over to the ‘offers’ section on your online OVO account and select Charge Anytime. If you’re already an OVO customer, you can add Charge Anytime - via the ‘offers’ section of your online account - in a matter of minutes via the OVO app or website.
The Select-OVO Free Charging Miles promotion is available on specific electric vehicles, and plug-in hybrids, only. The EVs eligible for the Free Charging Miles offer will be clearly labelled on the Select Car Leasing special offer pages. Once you’re set up with OVO on a Charge Anytime add-on, and have taken delivery of your eligible electric vehicle from Select, a one-off credit of £140 will be automatically applied to your OVO energy account within the first month of adding charge anytime successfully to your account. The credit equates to 8,000 free miles of electric driving for customers charging an average sized electric vehicle on Charge Anytime. Actual free miles obtained will depend on your driving style, the weather conditions and your car’s efficiency. And you’re then free to enjoy convenient, discounted EV charging at home.
If you leave OVO before you get the Charge Anytime credit, you won’t be able to receive the credit.
If you cancel your lease before you receive your vehicle, you won’t get the credit.
If you terminate your lease after receiving your vehicle after the first 12 months on your lease agreement, you’ll still get the credit, but only if you have the vehicle and Charge Anytime at the time you applied for the credit. Early termination of a lease contract attracts a penalty charge from the leasing company.
