Batur hypercar is most powerful Bentley yet

This is the stunning new Bentley Batur - and it’s officially the most powerful Bentley to date.

To say that the Batur will be a ‘limited edition’ is something of an understatement.

Just 18 cars will be built for customers, hand-crafted in the firm’s ‘Mulliner’ workshops - with the Mulliner division representing the absolute pinnacle in Bentley luxury.

The ‘ultimate grand tourer’, as Bentley describes it, will have one hefty price tag, thought to be around £1.65 million.

The sleek, sumptuous coupe will also be handed power of 750 PS, courtesy of a whopping great 6.0 litre W12 petrol engine - with that trademark W12 unit tracing its roots back to the Continental GT of the early Noughties.

A Bentley spokesperson tells us:

“Its 750PS peak output makes it the most powerful W12 and therefore the most powerful Bentley powertrain ever built. Its new air intake system, modified turbochargers, revised intercoolers and new calibrations for engine, transmission and electronic stability control were tested to the limit in over 100 weeks of powertrain development. The engine’s breath-taking performance is matched to the most advanced Bentley chassis specification ever. Highlights include Speed-tuned air suspension, electric active anti-roll control, eLSD, four-wheel steering and torque vectoring.”

There’s no official word on the 0-62 mph acceleration time, but you can bet your bottom dollar that it’ll be less than 4.0 seconds.

The Batur also represents something of a swansong for that W12 engine, with Bentley - like every other manufacturer - moving away from gas-guzzlers to fully electric powertrains.

Of course, Bentleys aren’t just about going fast - they’re about getting you there in utmost comfort and refinement. And the Batur isn’t lacking in that department, either, as you’d expect from a car commanding such a fee.

There’s an abundance of carbon fibre and the cabin also features proper, actual gold.

The Bentley spokesperson adds:

“Every detail has also had to pass development scrutiny, including the 18ct yellow gold options for the Charisma Dial and the Organ Stop air vent control. Made from recycled, 3D printed gold, these parts have been subjected to tests as wide-ranging as thermal loading to resistance to sun cream.”

The completed Baturs will eventually roll out of Bentley’s carbon neutral factory in Crewe, Cheshire, with each one taking around four months to complete.

You’re unlikely to be able to lease a Batur - but you can lease a different Bentley with Select Car leasing.
