- Skoda Favorit concept revealed
- Reboots an icon from the late 1980s
- Minimalist look and clean lines
- Not intended for production - but it could spark real interest

Dust off your shell suit and dig out your acid wash jeans - because Skoda has revived a late 80s classic with a reboot of the Favorit!
You can’t move for retro reboots right now (and that’s not a bad thing at all) with lovingly rejuvenated cars like the Renault 4, Renault 5 and Fiat Panda all hitting the lease market in recent months.
And now Skoda has added another one to the pile in the form of this Favorit concept.

Skoda reckons the Favorit was ‘a true icon from the late 1980s’. It was also a practical, no-nonsense family car that helped to boost the reputation of the Czech manufacturer as the Volkswagen Group began its takeover.
The Favorit was also styled by legendary Italian design firm Bertone - the same people that gave us cars like the Lancia Stratos and the Lamborghini Miura.
So, this new Favorit concept has some big shoes to fill. Will this tease pave the way for a full production? Only time will tell, but we’d be excited to see it.

The Favorit concept is, of course, fully electric. It’s the brainchild of Skoda designer Ljudmil Slavov, who said: “This is a tribute to the Favorit, so I carefully studied the original details, aiming to evolve and elevate them. Simplifying an already minimalistic shape into the Modern Solid style was genuinely challenging.”
One of the trickiest things to get right, according to Slavov, was reimagining the large headlights that made the Favorit look so distinctive at the time.
The solution was to use ultra-slim LED strips at the front and rear, set behind semi-transparent covers that mirror the size and volume of the original lamps.

Slavov explained: “These covers allow the lights to project different patterns, which owners could personalise.”
Outlining the importance of the Favorit in Skoda’s rise from the butt of motoring jokes into a European automotive powerhouse, a company spokesperson added: “When it was first introduced, the original Favorit marked a significant turning point for Skoda. Developed under the challenging conditions of the Iron Curtain and with limited resources, the Favorit was a remarkable engineering achievement—combining attractive design, practical features, and international acclaim. It laid the foundation for Skoda’s transformation into a global automotive brand, catching the eye of industry leaders like Volkswagen.”

You can’t lease the Favorit - but you could argue that its spiritual successor is the Skoda Fabia - which is available via Select Car Leasing for an affordable monthly lease fee.
