Dacia Duster goes hybrid!

This is the all-new, third-gen Dacia Duster - and the value SUV has been handed a hybrid powertrain for the very first time.

First of all, looks good, doesn’t it?

When it becomes available to lease next year, the overhauled Duster will feature angular new styling, improved off-road skills, and tough new materials designed to withstand the test of time.

It’s also bigger all-round, with more space in the front and rear for passengers while boasting a larger 472-litre boot.

A self-charging hybrid powertrain will also make its debut - though traditional engines will also still be available.

The ‘Hybrid 140’ unit, already available with a Dacia Jogger lease, never needs to be plugged-in and reduces your fuel consumption by as much as 20% in mixed driving conditions.

And while prices haven’t been revealed just yet, Dacia is promising that the new Duster will remain ‘a family SUV providing the best value for money in its segment’. You can lease the current Duster with Select Car Leasing from just £236 per month*.

When it comes to the exterior, Dacia says the Duster now has a ‘stronger and more assertive design’. There are sharp lines everywhere you look, as well as tweaked ‘Y’-shaped lights front and rear.

A lot of thought has gone into making the Duster as durable as possible, too.

The front and rear skid plates are made from plastic that was already coloured before it was injected, meaning that scrapes and scratches won’t show up as readily. The side underbody shields, wheel-arch guards, triangles on the front bumper, front and rear skid plates and rear shield tail are also made of a sturdy material called Starkle - designed by Dacia’s in-house boffins - and which doesn’t need to be painted.

The cabin has also improved, coming with a new vertical dashboard and a 10.1-inch centre infotainment touchscreen on all but the entry-level trims.

The Duster - when leased with all-wheel drive - will take you to places that’d terrify other family SUVs. There are various settings designed to handle different terrains, while the Duster also gets ground clearance of 217 mm, which Dacia reckons is the best in the car’s class. With up to 31° at the front and 36° at the rear, the approach and departure angles allow the Duster to clear even more obstacles, too.

Speaking of the great outdoors, Dacia is offering an optional ‘Sleep Pack’ with the Duster - again, first seen on the Jogger estate - which includes a handy double bed.

Besides the hybrid engine, a revised TCe 130 petrol mill is supported by mild-hybrid wizardry and can help to lower your fuel bills, and CO2 emissions, by about 10% compared with a regular internal combustion engine, says Dacia.

And, as before, you can also opt for a ‘Bi-Fuel’ Dacia Duster, which runs on both petrol and LPG gas - you can change which fuel you want to use at the flick of a switch.

There will be four main trims.

The entry-level ‘Essential’ features fixed roof bars, rear parking sensors, and more.

The ‘Expression’ grade adds 17-inch alloys, a 7-inch digital dashboard, and the 10.1-inch infotainment screen that’s angled towards the driver for better comfort levels.

A Duster ‘Extreme’ gets modular roof bars, washable upholstery, rubber floor and boot mats, automatic air conditioning, sat-nav, and copper accents inside and out.

Meanwhile ‘Journey’ models add a touch more luxury to proceedings, coming with a wireless charger, uprated sound system, fog lights, and 18-inch alloys.

We’ll let you know when the new Dacia Duster becomes available to lease - so watch this space.

From the initial contact through to delivery it’s been a great experience with Select. Ronnie was quick to respond to my enquiry and provide the information needed to make a quick decision. She and other colleagues also followed up throughout the process to make sure I knew what was happening and to make sure I was ready for delivery and all was ok when the car arrived. The customer portal they have for the process is also easy to use. I’ve been really happy with the experience and would definitely recommend Select if you’re looking to lease a car.
